Nella Rose has been defended by her close pals after I'm A Celebrity fans questioned the medical emergency that saw her exempt from the latest Bushtucker Trial.

As hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly went into camp on Tuesday to reveal the results of the public vote, the Geordie duo explained Nella was missing from the camp and would be exempt from the next trial due to medical reasons. Dec said: "Now unfortunately, Nella is being seen by the medic so she'll be back later, but it means she's now exempt from this trial. So let's go in there and see who will be doing it."

Some viewers claimed Nella, 26, "faked" her illness after already taking part in a gruelling trial with Frankie Dettori the previous day. One viewer tweeted: "Catching up with #ImaCeleb - how convenient that #Nella needs to see a medic just before she’s obviously going to be made to do another trial. Get her out of there."

Another added: "Nella going to see camp doctor just before the trial is chosen hahahahaha I wonder what for #ImaCeleb." But, a friend of the YouTube star told the Mirror these claims were "unfair" and "untrue".

Nella's famous pals have also taken to social media to show their support of the I'm A Celebrity star. On Tuesday evening, fellow YouTube star Yung Filly called on his followers to vote for Nella once eliminations begin.

ITV have since confirmed Nella has returned to her fellow campmates in the jungle camp. A statement read: "During last night's live broadcast, Nella Rose required medical treatment on site and was deemed unable to take part in the trial. Nella has since rejoined camp."

Nigel Farage and Nick Pickard will be taking part in the Bushtucker Trial In Too Deep in Wednesday's episode.
