Maura is only friends with three of her co-stars

Love Island's Maura Higgins has revealed she doesn't speak to many of her villa co-stars and is only friends with just three.

The 33-year-old starred in the 2019 series alongside Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury, but hasn't stayed friends with many of the others who came and went on the ITV2 dating show. In fact of the 36 contestants Maura shared her time with on the 2019 series, she speaks to just three people who also featured on the reality show.

Despite some tension in the villa over a shared interest in Tommy Fury, Maura revealed that she speaks to Molly-Mae Hague and her boxing fiancé Tommy. She also added that she still keeps in contact with Francesca Allen, who also featured in series five in 2019.

Speaking to The Sun, Maura explained: "Molly and Tommy for sure, I speak to Francesca Allen a bit. Other than that, that's probably it." She also added that she's 'done' with being a contestant on programmes like Love Island, as she said: "I don't wanna go back, I wanna move forward. I feel like once is enough. I think my contestant days are definitely done, no more dating shows for me."

The friendship confession comes as Maura was awkwardly reunited with her villa love Curtis Pritchard after he was the third contestant to be eliminated from the villa during the recent Love Island Games, which aired this month. Maura came face to face with her previous hook-up as she carried out her role as the social media ambassador of the spin-off show, who had to interview Curtis following his exit.

In the tense exchange, Maura is tasked with getting Curtis to open up about his experience inside the villa in the aftermath of his eviction. "Long time no see, Curtis," Maura quipped as she was reunited with her ex, prompting the Dancing With the Stars contestant Curtis to crumble into a sheepish laugh.

Maura and Curtis split in 2020 after just seven months together, with Maura delivering a cruel blow at the time as she explained that she no longer saw Curtis as a 'future husband.'

Maura has also delighted fans recently as she showed off her glam style as she celebrated her birthday in the Maldives. Fans and Love Island pals were quick to praise the star with Molly-Mae Hague commenting: "Perfect birthday girl" and Faye Winter adding: "Happy birthday angel, you deserve the world."
