A woman has shared the heartbreaking moment she found out her boyfriend was cheating on her - only seconds before he proposed to her in front of hundreds of people.

Tiffany Maldonado, 42, had been in a two-year relationship with a man with whom she was “madly in love”. But when she stumbled across text messages from another woman while she was using his phone to film footage of him, everything crumbled. It was devastating for Tiffany: “I was head over heels. If he said jump, I would say, 'how high?’,” she continued.

Tiffany’s lover had taken her on a “surprise” trip to the Orlando amusement parks. A competition was ongoing that day which her man got involved with, and he gave her his phone to film it all. “And I'm just saying, ‘Oh my gosh, this is so cute. How much fun.’”

“The text messages turned out to be from his mistress that he’s been messing with the whole time we were together. And she’s pissed, she’s really pissed. I guess that morning he had texted her to let her know like ‘Hey, it’s over between us because I’m about to get engaged today’. And she threw a s***-fit even though she herself was married,” Tiffany explained of the shocking moment.

Tiffany said her heart “drops” and she wanted to vomit. “I’m trying to keep my hand steady and filming what's happening as he's proposing and announcing it to this whole frickin' stadium full of people.”

The boyfriend dropped to one knee and before she knew it Tiffany was on the big screen at the stadium - all the while the messages were continuing to pop up on her phone. “I am not the type of girl that likes it when people see me sweat,'” she said. She decided to “keep my composure and to just walk outside of the stadium and wait for him outside.”

“Once he shows up he immediately gives me a huge hug, tells me that he loves me. And of course, does the proposal again to my face this time, not just on the big screen.” But Tiffany took him away to the nearest restaurant and confronted her adulterous boyfriend.

“He knew that he was caught and for the next 30 minutes he proceeded to just tell me everything that he thought that I wanted to hear and I was just numb,” she recalled. “The only words that I can manage to muster up at this point were: ‘Baby this two-carat diamond ring. It's just not going to be enough.’”

Tiffany didn’t break-up with him immediately but they drove home in “awkward silence” as she was “completely paralysed”. She didn’t admit to friends and family about the engagement but her sharp-eyed pals spotted the engagement ring - and grilled her for answers.

“I had so much invested in this relationship that it was really hard to break it off immediately,” she explained. “Again, we're human, and I'm not messy. So I really tried to give it a go.” But after two or three months, it became clear the man would “never win my trust back”, Tiffany said. “And it took about two years and $10,000 of therapy just to finally be right again with myself.”
