Liverpool are gearing up for a Europa League clash against LASK on Thursday, having earned an impressive draw against Manchester City on Saturday.

The Reds drew 1-1 with Pep Guardiola's side at the Etihad, with Trent Alexander-Arnold scoring a late equaliser after Erling Haaland had given City the lead. The result leaves Jurgen Klopp's men third in the Premier League, just two points behind league leaders Arsenal.

They are also currently unbeaten in the Europa League, a record they will be hoping to keep intact when they host LASK at Anfield. With that in mind, here is all the latest news from Merseyside.

Nunez slammed

Darwin Nunez has been told to "spend his time concentrating on why he's not scoring more goals instead of picking fights" after the forward was involved in a spat with City boss Guardiola.

After the game, Nunez attempted to confront Guardiola and had to be held back by Klopp. And Garth Crooks has now hit out at Nunez in his Team of the Week column for BBC Sport, writing: "This was a good performance by Liverpool at Manchester City, although Darwin Nunez tried his best to spoil it.

"Nunez should really spend his time concentrating on why he's not scoring more goals instead of picking fights and venting his frustrations with the opposition manager because he's been substituted."

Liverpool are sweating on the fitness of goalkeeper Alisson and forward Diogo Jota after they picked up knocks against City.

Jota was forced off in the second-half, while Alisson was seen clutching his leg shortly before the end of the game. And Klopp admitted in his post-match press conference: "The shadow on this game is obviously that Ali felt something and Diogo felt something – something we have to assess and then we will see.

"I hope it's not that serious, but I don't have the answer – no clue in the moment what it is. I spoke to him [Alisson] and he said he only felt [it] a little bit, but we have to wait for the scan."

Mohamed Salah has revealed he is "addicted to chess" and plays "literally every day".

In an interview with Sky Sports, Salah said: "I play chess, I am addicted to chess. Every day, literally every day. I put my name and some numbers so some people they ask, 'Are you Mo Salah'? I say, 'Yes', they don't believe it and say, 'You are lying', I say, 'Yes I'm lying'."

When asked how good he is, Salah replied: "I'm good, I'm not Magnus [Carlsen] but I'm good. No one has a chance with Magnus." Salah is not the only chess lover in the Liverpool squad, with Alexander-Arnold losing a game against Carlsen back in 2018.
