A house in a gated community was set on fire by three suspects early this morning.

Footage sent to the Liverpool Echo shows three men dressed in black and with their faces covered approaching the house in Formby just before 12.20am on Friday, November 24. The men poured flammable liquid over the front door of the house and set it on fire. The front of the house was engulfed in flames as the suspects ran away. They fled on foot and police are now trying to identify them.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "Thankfully no one was injured, but the incident caused damage to the front of the home."

Detective Inspector Gavin Mulcahy added: "This was a totally reckless thing to do and is wholly unacceptable. Thankfully no one was hurt from this mindless act, but it could have put residents in serious danger."

"Rest assured we are taking this extremely seriously and I am appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity at around that time and witnessed the incident or has information then please get in touch."
