Who would have thought that just a few days away from winter would be the best time to buy a new e-bike?

I've already found some tempting bargains on Amazon, with some big savings on a variety of e-bikes, but while I was hunting around for more hidden deals, this one absolutely leaped out at me.

Millets is offering a huge discount on its cute little Compass Comp Electric Folding Bike, which brings it down from £1,300 to just £499. It's a drop of over £800, and it's one of the biggest discounts I've seen in this crazy month.

But is the bike any good? For starters, folding bikes are something you'll either be interested in or not. They're not as nice to ride as a full-size static-frame bike, and their smaller wheels will make them less stable.

But they're great for commuters, because you can fold them up and carry them onto a train or bus, and they're also handy if, like me, you don't have a lot of room at home or in your office to store a full-sized bike.

The Compass Comp has a motor mounted in the rear wheel, which is much better than the front wheel, trust me, and a detachable battery mounted in a luggage rack behind the rider.

Millets reckon the 36V motor will assist you for up to 40 miles, which suggests the battery is pretty competent, but remember this will be dependent on which mode you've got it in and how fit you're feeling.

But a quality e-bike for £500? This is another of those Black Friday bargains we just had to share, it's a great deal.
