Chart topping singer Kim Petras has confessed she is ‘stressing out’ ahead of her appearance at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards this weekend.

The 30-year-old German singer is nominated Best Pop Duo/Group Performance award for her song Unholy.

The single - which topped the charts in both the UK and USA, but not her native Germany - is a duet with British star Sam Smith.

The duo have made history to be the first transgender and non-binary performers to be nominated in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category.

“It was never my goal to win a Grammy or to get nominated but now there’s the possibility of that. It’s crazy.”

However, she went on to admit she is feeling anxious about what to wear on the famous Grammy’s red carpet.

She explained: “I’m stressing out about the outfit. It’s the Grammys and a historical moment for a trans girl.

“I usually want to let other people shine, but now I’m nominated, I need to shine.”

Kim and Sam face stiff competition in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category as they will be up against music icons ABBA, British band Coldplay for their collaboration with Korean boyband BTS, former Fifth Harmony singer Camila Cabello and Ed Sheeran who collaborated on a song titled Bam Bam together, and rap sensation Post Malone for a track he performed alongside Doja Cat.

Kim and Sam won’t just be sashaying down the red carpet and rising in the nominees chairs - they will also take to the stage as part of the ceremony to perform their hit song.

Kim is not the first transgender artist to be nominated for a Grammy.
