I'm A Celebrity star exposes 'conniving' Nigel Farage's naked shower 'strategy'

Former UKIP leader Nigel Farage is one of the most controversial contestants to ever appear on I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

But it was more than his political views that raised eyebrows this week after the ex-MP bared his bum in the waterfall days into his stint in the jungle. While some viewers might have thought he was just washing the grime off himself, others have a different opinion.

Branding him “conniving” and “manipulative”, former Tory MP and I’m A Celeb campmate Edwina Currie is convinced his bum-showing moment is all part of Farage’s plan to get extra airtime – and says he’ll be furious he isn’t being picked for that many trials.

Predicting Farage will be plotting his next big publicity stunt as we speak, Edwina – who starred on the ITV show back in 2014 - said: “It’s hard to believe that stripping off when there are cameras are everywhere is accidental, so you have to wonder what is going through his head. What does he think his bottom is going to do for members of the public? You don’t need to get naked when you shower in the jungle. I’ve never heard of anyone doing it. Keeping your knickers on in public is not exactly a high standard for anyone, let alone a politician. There’s something very considered and manipulative going on in Nigel’s mind. He certainly has a strategy.”

Asked what she thought his strategy was, Edwina shared: “He’s revealed that trials guarantee 25% of airtime. I don’t know how he’s got that information, but he’s clearly been mentally ready to do lots and lots of trials. However, the public aren’t voting him in to do trials. They’re voting for Nella now.”

Saying Farage “won’t be a happy bunny”, Edwina told Spin Genie the former politician will be “frustrated and puzzled” as to why the attention has been turned away from him and perhaps even questioning his decision to go on the reality show.

“Is Nigel conniving? Almost certainly,” Edwina continued. Predicting what he will do next, she said: “He’s thinking hard about his next move and how to do it. Most of his campmates will be thinking how to survive, where’s the next meal coming from? Nigel will be thinking much wider than that. But he’s not in control, that’s the difficult thing and maybe the realisation has hit him and is causing him a bit of grief. I think anything that demonstrates that Nigel isn’t the big boss guy that he is in his head will drive him crazy.”

Edwina added anyone interested in the world of politics will be tuning in to watch Nigel and she doesn’t think he has lost any fans, but his aim to appeal to a wider group is “probably not going as he thought”.

Poor This Morning presenter Josie Gibson was horrified when she was confronted by a naked Farage earlier this week. Speaking in the Bush Telegraph afterwards, Josie said: “Freaking hell! I wasn’t expecting to see ’s bottom so soon! But, I’ve seen worse. No, I haven’t. I haven’t! Fair play to him. He’s not shy, he just gets on in there. At least he’s clean."
