Shaughna Phillips says her daughter is her soulmate as she refuses to date
Shaughna Phillips has opened up about her romantic life and her 'soulmate' after her split from ex Billy Webb.
Former Love Island star Shaughna has revealed she's not keen on dating since giving birth to her first child, daughter Lucia, earlier this year. The 29-year-old was paired with Callum Jones on the ITV reality series in 2020 before being brutally dumped from the villa on Day 33. She moved onto embark on a romance with Billy in April 2022, but has since split from the real estate agent. The pair share daughter Lucia together.
Shaughna has now confirmed she has no interest in seeking romance at the moment, insisting that she is fully content with focusing on motherhood. She also said she's not sure will she ever desire a partner again, before adding she doesn't currently have the capacity to pursue a relationship.
"I love being a Mum," she gushed on her podcast Oh Baby! with co-host Holly Connolly. "I have absolutely zero desire to have a relationship with anyone or invite someone into my life. I love just me and my baby, we just crack on with it, and I don't know whether that feeling will ever leave me," she said. "Is it because she is just so new and I'm in like a little bubble? I'm not sure. But I just feel like I have a friend for life and also I don't feel like I have any energy to try and maintain or develop something new. I just feel like me and my baby are good over here.
"To me, it's just not worth it – I just feel like there's no relationship in my life that is worth it than the one I have with her. She's my soulmate. I'm so good." Shaughna welcomed baby Lucia into the world in April, after announcing her pregnancy last October.
Love Island's Haris spills on unaired row between Zara and TanyelShe shares her daughter with ex Billy Webb, who was arrested on drug charges just two months before she gave birth. Shortly after, Shaughna told OK! magazine she was preparing to be a single mum, revealing, "After a challenging few weeks, obviously, the baby's father isn't around.
"But my main focus has always been just to prepare for the birth and try to be as calm as possible. I'm good at just saying, 'Right, the show must go on'."
Elsewhere on the candid podcast, Shaughna doubled down on her satisfaction with solo parenting and avoiding any intimate relationships. She explained that her commitment to protecting Lucia, whom she has since described as has significantly impacted who'll she date. "The thought of anyone being in my baby's life that isn't her own family, scares me to no end," she admitted. "And I know not everyone's this big, scary monster in the world but I just think when you've got a child and you're dating, you need to be so much more careful than if you didn't have a child."
