Dancing on Ice's Eddie The Eagle wears helmet as he struggles in training

Training for the upcoming season of Dancing on Ice is well underway.

S Club 7 star Hannah Spearritt and Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards have been spotted practising on the ice as next year's contestants prepare for the skating competition.

Both contestants were pictured on the ice with world champion skaters Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean. As Hannah tried to get the hang of it with professional partner Andy Buchanan, she was spotted trying out some technical moves on the ice.

Meanwhile, Eddie 'The Eagle' was taking no chances of an injury as he sported a helmet during training. He was seen attempting to take the lead with professional skater Tibby Packard but appeared wobbly on the ice.

Eddie's partner was spotted filming Eddie on her mobile phone as he whizzed around the ice with pro skate partner Tibby. Eddie and his partner were then seen leaving the rink after a late training session.

The series was temporarily thrown into chaos last month when Gogglebox star Stephen Lustig-Webb was forced to withdraw from the show after sustaining an injury during training. A spokesperson for Dancing on Ice said: "Stephen Lustig-Webb has had to withdraw from the show due to an injury he sustained to his ankle during training.

"He is still very much a part of the Dancing on Ice family, we will be helping to support Stephen and we wish him well with his recovery." Eddie 'The Eagle' has since joined the show as an emergency replacement.

Hannah was the third celebrity confirmed to be taking part in Dancing on Ice. She was an original member of pop group S Club 7 but parted ways with her bandmates following the tragic death of Paul Cattermole.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain about taking part, she said: "I'm really excited about learning a new skill. It's so easy to live your comfortable life and that aspect of mixing things up is very appealing."

Eddie has since spoken out and said that while he is "delighted" to be taking part in the series, he is "gutted" for Stephen. Former world champion boxer Ricky Hatton, Love Island star Amber Davies, Olympian Greg Rutherford and Made in Chelsea's Miles Nazaire are all getting ready for their TV ice debut next year.

Soap icon Claire Sweeney, comedian Lou Sanders, EastEnders star Ricky Norwood, BBC Radio 1 DJ Adele Roberts, Emmerdale star Roxy Shahidi and Coronation Street's Ryan Thomas are also in training for the 2024 series.
