Glasgow Central Station was plunged into chaos after a power cut sparked all trains to be either cancelled or delayed.

ScotRail said a loss of electrical supply at Glasgow's busiest station on Thursday disrupted services, but that lines had now reopened. However, the rail operator urged passengers to check their services on the ScotRail app, website or JourneyCheck as disruptions may still be in place. A statement on their website read: "Lines have reopened following an earlier failure of the electricity supply at Glasgow Central. As service recovers, trains running to/from this station may still be cancelled, delayed or revised."

It comes after an electrical failure caused rush hour chaos at Edinburgh Waverley earlier this month. Services to and from the station were brought to a standstill on Thursday, November 2, with Network Rail engineers dispatched to investigate. Last month water flowed like a river over the tracks of a Scottish train station as customers faced "life-threatening" weather conditions. Bowling train station on the Glasgow to Dalmuir and Balloch line was closed after the Met Office issued an Amber weather warning for extreme rain and flood.
