Customers dining at Tom Kerridge's restaurant are furious after having to sit at stools to eat at one of his fine dining restaurants.

Going out for a special occasion to a fancy restaurant can be an exciting affair but also an expensive one. And when you are paying a lot of money for something, you want it to feel like it is worth it. Customers and fans of TV celebrity chef Tom Kerridge confess that his posh pub - The Coach - is pretty faultless, but say it is "ruined" by the awkward seating arrangements.

If you want to dine at the Michelin Star pub, in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, it will set you back over £30 for a main course, and £65 for a three course meal per person - before drinks. And, you might have to eat your posh food on a stool at the bar and not at a dining table. This has caused outrage among some customers who say they "probably won't come again".

A spokesperson for The Coach, in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, said: "Pop yourself on one of our bar stools and chat to our chefs and bar team who are always on hand with a friendly welcome." The website reads: "We are now taking lunch and dinner bookings for same-day dining. Please note, our bar stools are also available to book over the phone."

But some diners are not happy. One customer - called Des - shared his experience at The Coach, and said: "I took my partner for a lovely breakfast. We arrived and found quite a lot of tables still free and some seats at the bar. On entering the restaurant we were immediately directed to the bar seats as there were only two of us.

"We asked if we could sit at a table with a little more space, but told they are for larger parties and we were not allowed to sit there. Ten minutes later there were a number of other couples coming into the restaurant and to my anger, three couples were sat on individual four seater tables."

Des continued: "This ruined our experience of The Coach, and nothing like the Hand and Flowers, which we've been to twice before. Mr Kerridge this is not the way to keep customers happy. The bar stools were not very comfortable as they are bolted to the ground and you are too close to the bar."

Another said: "We booked lunch for an anniversary treat. We were disappointed to be pointed to bar stools. We were re-seated when said we wanted to eat at a table. Although the food was delicious we also found it to be overpriced as portions are 'tapas' size and we were advised would need two or three per person, this is Marlow not central London. Probably won't go again. Come on Mr Kerridge, food great, value for money not so good."

A customer named Matt spoke about when he visited Tom's restaurant for his anniversary. The customer said: "We were able to book on the day, a space at the bar for our 25th wedding anniversary. The food and staff were excellent. The mussels were the star of the day. We could have eaten many more. The pork chop was amazing the crackling was a talking point wondering how they cooked it."

Matt added: "The only downside was my bar stool as it was leaning forward it became uncomfortable after some time." However, there were some customers who expressed enjoying the experience.

Restaurant goer Andrew said: "We had two bar stools right in front of the kitchen meaning we saw everything being cooked and enjoyed the theatrical experience of a fast moving seriously professional Michelin star restaurant."

The most expensive main course is the Whole Stuffed Rotisserie Quail with Toasted Barley, Smoked Bacon and Dordogne Butter at £32. A Cold Aston Estate Partridge with Game Demi Pie and Blackberry Ketchup is £30.

Roasted Cornish Seabass with Artichoke, Garganelli and Chicken & Hazelnut Jus Gras costs £29.00. Starters include the £20.50 Deep Fried Cod with Tartare Sauce and Pease Pudding. The sort of pudding on offer is the Mango & Coconut Choux Bun with Pineapple Rum Sauce prized at £12.50.

The Coach is one of eight restaurants owned by TV chef Kerridge. Three weeks ago the 50-year-old Masterchef star was blasted for increasing the price of his cook at home Christmas dinner. It contains no turkey, roast potatoes or vegetables but at £215 is £20 more than last year. Last month he was criticised for hiking the cost of his posh fish and chips at Harrods.

The Mirror has contacted The Coach for comment.
