While most retailers run dozens of deals in the run up to Black Friday, which falls this November 24, River Island is one of the few brands sticking to tradition and keeping it simple. While some run warm-up events that last all month, others drop early deals in the weeks ahead - but for most shoppers, the River Island Black Friday event starts exactly when it should. On Black Friday.

As a big fan of the high-street brand who’s wardrobe is probably a good 75 per cent River Island at this point, I’ve already shared the including making a wish list, and creating an account.

Another tip was to follow the brand on Instagram for some styling inspo - and boy have they come through with a that I’ve added straight to my basket in anticipation of the sale. Oh, and I’ve put the other on my Christmas wish list. Please and thank you, Santa.

In a reel posted to the brand’s account, influencer Olivia Miller showed just how versatile the can be. River Island wrote: “How many ways can you style a waistcoat? At least eight, according to @ooliviamiller.”

She then swapped out the trousers for a pair of (£48) and a cropped beige bomber jacket, switching into some black leather look trousers, adding a black blazer and sparkly bag for a look fit for the festive party season.

Another, more casual ensemble saw Olivia dress the blue jeans down with and a pair of Adidas Sambas, but I think my favourite - and if I wasn’t already sold, I was now - was the and combo.

Her parting style inspiration featured the Grey Belted Wrap Blazer with some darker coloured jeans, really showing off how this waistcoat could be your hardest working piece. If it were me, though, I’d definitely be styling it with my , which is now

This is not the only item I’ve had in my River Island basket of late, either, with the high street retailer seemingly smashing the trends right now. Some of my favourite recent purchases include this , as well as this Oh, and that’s already reduced, down to £30 from £55.

While the main Black Friday sale won’t launch until tomorrow, for certain customers. Anyone who has signed up to the retailer’s newsletter can get at least £15 off their basket with a VIP code.

From November 17 to November 27, fashion fans can enter the code . And on baskets of £75, that’s a saving of £15, making their order come to £60. There is a slight catch, though. Customers will be able to get but only when they spend a minimum of £75 on full priced womenswear, menswear, kidswear and beauty items purchased online.

In 2022, where shoppers could get 15 per cent off £50 spends, 20 per cent off when they spent £85 and 25 per cent off orders over £150. Meanwhile in 2021, the retailer slashed on their site when shoppers spend over £75, which was the same for 2020 and 2018. So it’s safe to say that we’re looking forward to see what the retailer does tomorrow.

However, if you’re as obsessed with the as I am, I wouldn’t hang about. Usually when River Island shares a popular product to their Instagram followers, they tend to sell out quite quickly.

The available in sizes 6-18. Currently £38, if you were to spend £75 and use the discount, it would slash the price to £30.40.
