Orphan accused of 'posing as a child' shares her story in new documentary

As Natalia Grace was claimed to be "murderous" and a "deceptive liar" by her adoptive family, she is ready to share her side of the story with her own explosive documentary.

In the shocking docuseries "The Curious Case of Natalia Grace" Natalia's adoptive family detailed the "horror" story of their experience adopting Natalia. The family claimed they believed that they were taking in a six-year-old girl but were actually adopting a woman in her 20's with spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia, a rare bone disorder that stunts growth and causes patients to appear much younger than they actually are.

The family claimed that the Ukrainian woman purposefully lied about her age and pretended to be a child with an intent to harm them. Natalia's adoptive father Michael and his wife Kristina Barnett claimed their breaking point came when Natalia allegedly threatened them with a knife and said she was "gonna kill everybody."

After the alleged threat the Barnetts started to question Natalia's age and grew skeptical as she acted much older than a child. After the family's discovery that Natalia had spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia, they brought her to have her birth certificate updated with it now indicating she was born in 1989 rather than 2003.

The couple claimed they grew fearful of Natalia after the knife incidient and set her up in an apartment to live on her own. Once authorities discovered this they arrested the couple for child neglect in 2019. The pair were both later dropped of the charges.

Now, Natalia is ready to uncover her side of the story as she is set to release her own tell-all documentary titled "The Curious Case of Natalia Grace: Natalia Speaks" in January. A teaser of the upcoming film was released on Investigation Discovery Wednesday morning, sharing new unreleased details about the mysterious case.

In the new trailer, Natalia - who is now 34 years old - shared her perspective as she saw her life's story told for the world to see. In the clip, she said: "In every lie is a hidden truth, but you gotta dig enough to be able to see it. This is my side of the story. Do I look like a monster to you?"

In the video, Natalia confronted her adoptive father face-to-face as she broke down in tears and said to him: "You're supposed to be my dad. You're supposed to be the one to protect me." She continued to question him about the docuseries asking if he felt sorry for what he did and urged that she never threatened him with a knife. The dramatic trailer concludes with her father storming out of the one-on-one interview and Natalia saying that she wants "people to pay for what they've done."

The Curious Case of Natalia Grace: Natalia Speaks will premiere three consecutive nights on ID starting Monday, January 1, and airing nightly from 9-11PM ET/PT.
