I'm A Celebrity star's sister demands ITV end 'public hate train' on Nella Rose

Former I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! star Charlene White's sister demanded ITV stop the 'public hate train' against Nella Rose.

Loose Women's Charlene took part in the reality series last year and was branded bossy by some fans of the ITV show. Not only did she receive racist comments, many made unflattering comments when she told how she feared she could lose her job if she didn't stay impartial when Matt Hancock entered the show.

A year later, the series returned to screens with a whole new line-up - including former UKIP leader Nigel Farage, This Morning's Josie Gibson, First Dates' Fred Siriex and YouTube sensation Nella. It has only been a few days since the show started but there has already been a clash between two campmates.

Nella started as a fan favourite but many claimed they saw a different side to the 26-year-old when she clashed with Fred, 51, over a comment he made about being old enough to be her dad. The comment, which may have triggered past trauma, offended the YouTube star and resulted in a row between the two.

Viewers were divided over the reaction and took to social media to call for her to be voted out of the show. Many called her 'entitled' and left vile comments about her but many rushed to defend the star and explained she went through heartbreaking losses in her family.

Last year, Charlene's sister Carina was no stranger to dealing with an influx of social media abuse as she previously controlled Charlene's platforms when she was in the jungle. Speaking about the comments Charlene used to receive, Carina wrote on Twitter: "I hope whoever is running Nella’s social accounts protect their mental health because last year when my cousin & I were running my sister’s, the comments were awful. I’m a strong person but seeing some of the vile & racist messages towards my sister were heartbreaking.

"And one point I broke down in tears but I was just grateful that Charlene didn’t see any of the hate as we blocked numerous accounts and deleted hate messages etc so she wouldn’t see it when she came out the jungle. The I’m a celebrity team control the public narrative & opinion by the way they edit the content and I hope this evening’s show shows a resolution to this Nella/Fred fiasco and they don’t allow this public hate train to gather even more speed.

"That being said, some people are actually insane. I remember someone DM’ing last year saying my sister needs to return to slavery with her ancestors. INSANE."

Nella had previously opened up about her father passing away in 2020. She also lost her mother when she was aged 19. During the episode, she claimed First Dates star Fred was aware of her family tragedy and that one of the comments he made left her feeling deeply upset.

While cooking dinner for their campmates, the duo started talking about their ages and Fred mentioned how their age gap meant he could be her dad. Nella said she felt 'disrespected' by the comment and confronted Fred about it afterwards. The heated conversation resulted in many viewers rushing to social media to comment on the row – with many saying the reaction 'came from grief'.
