Prince Harry is "missing" out on his heritage so may want to return to the Royal Family but "knew the score" and consequences when he spoke out about his family, it has been claimed.

According to various sources, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are reportedly keen to build bridges with King Charles III and the British Royal Family and would "not decline" an offer to join His Majesty for Christmas at Sandringham in Norfolk.

But as reports suggest that Harry and Meghan Markle return to the UK as working members of the Royal Family after stepping down almost four years ago, former royal butler Paul Burrell said there is "no job" for them, with the Duke knowing the "consequences" when he stepped back in 2020.

In a new interview, Paul touched on Harry's book Spare and the bombshell claims within it. He said: "He [Harry] knew what the score was when he was putting pen to paper, he knew what he was doing and what the consequences would be. He knew that his mother suffered the same consequences, he knew that when she wrote her book it had dire consequences."

He added: "She managed to crawl back until the Panorama interview but once that aired it was the final straw. She had a troubled life trying to find a voice and that's what Harry's been trying to do, trying to find a voice and a place."

Paul then noted that "everybody makes mistakes" but urged that this was "a huge mistake". He went on: "Coming back to England, I wonder if he has thought how unpopular they are in their country and that will bring its own problems."

Although the couple is said to be keen to return to the UK for Christmas, it is claimed that former Suits star Meghan "doesn't want anything to do" with the Royal Family, while her husband has "unfinished business", according to a royal biographer.

Omid Scobie, who worked with the couple on Finding Freedom, spoke to PEOPLE magazine where he revealed that Meghan "didn't want anything to do with it", adding: "For Harry it's different. He still has unfinished business when it comes to his battles with the press. His challenge will be to find something that balances that out so we can see him working in a space that isn’t connected to the ties that bind from the past."
