Netflix has launched a brand-new and real-life version of its hugely successful K-drama, Squid Game. Streaming now, Squid Game: The Challenge will see hundreds of everyday people taking part in a series of games from the original series in a bid for a life-changing multi-million dollar prize.

The reality series follows 456 real players all in pursuit of a life-changing reward of $4.56 million – the largest cash prize in reality TV history, according to Netflix. But only one person can walk away with the jackpot.

As the ruthless series progresses, the contestants will be forced to show their true colours as new alliances are shattered and friends become enemies. As they compete through a series of games inspired by the original show – alongside some new additions – the players’ strategies, alliances, and character will be put to the test while competitors are eliminated around them.

The 10-episode series was filmed here in the UK, with sets built to replicate those from the show down to the most minute details. Players will live together in a replica of Squid Game’s bunk bed-filled living quarters and compete in less-lethal versions of games pulled straight from the series, including the marble game, glass stepping stones and Red Light, Green Light.

How to watch Squid Game: The Challenge for free with Sky’s Black Friday deal

Squid Game: The Challenge is available to stream with a subscription to Netflix, which usually costs £10.99 a month for the Standard plan and £17.99 a month for the Premium plan. As well as the new game show, this gives members access to hit shows like the final season of The Crown and the anime series Scott Pilgrim Takes Off.

But savvy shoppers can currently get Netflix for free with a bargain Black Friday deal from Sky that also includes Apple TV+ for less than £20. Sky is offering an amazing entertainment bundle that includes Sky Stream, Sky TV, Netflix and six months of free Apple TV+ for £19 a month.

This awesome money-saving deal means bargain hunters can save £126 over Sky’s 18-month term, plus £53.94 with Apple – a total £179.94 saving. The bundle includes premium Sky channels like Sky Atlantic, Sky Max and Sky Documentaries, as well as all the most-talked-about new shows on Netflix and Apple TV+ including Godzilla spin-off Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, season three of Slow Horses and Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks’ upcoming WWII epic Masters of the Air.

Those looking to upgrade their broadband can also add Sky’s Superfast broadband with 61Mb/s for an extra £17 a month. Netflix is also included in Virgin’s Black Friday deals alongside ultra-fast broadband and a bevy of premium TV channels.

Virgin has slashed the price of its Mega Volt bundle by £15 a month, which includes 516MB/s broadband and an O2 mobile SIM with unlimited calls, texts and 5G data. What’s more, members can watch more than 230 premium TV channels on Virgin’s TV 360 box, which includes Sky Cinema HD, Sky Sports HD, plus Netflix’s Standard plan at no extra cost.

The bundle also includes an extra add-on free for six months with O2, with members able to choose from Disney+, Amazon Prime, Audible, Cafeyn, Amazon Music Unlimited, McAfee Mobile Security Plus or O2’s International Bolt On. While this is certainly pricey compared to Sky’s deal, customers are getting loads for their money and saving £270 over the 18-month term compared to its usual price.
