Soap fans hoping to get their usual fix of Coronation Street and Emmerdale on a Friday are in for some disappointment.

Thanks to yet another schedule shake-up on ITV, one of the shows is on earlier than usual - and another will not air at all on Friday night.

ITV1 is once again airing football coverage in the usual time slots of the soaps, this time for the FA Cup matches.

As a result, Emmerdale will now air earlier than normal at 7pm on ITV1, followed by the sports coverage.

With this starting at 7:30pm, it means there will not be an episode of Corrie on Friday night at all.

This isn't the first time Corrie and Emmerdale have been affected by the channel's sports coverage and it's unlikely it will be the last.

Just weeks ago, the World Cup 2022 coverage meant both soaps, and BBC One's EastEnders, suffered major changes to their normal schedules.

Soaps aired on days they were not normally on and at times earlier or after their usual slots.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays. Coronation Street airs on the same channel at 8pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
