Abbey Clancy surprised Peter Crouch at work in nothing but a Burberry coat

Abbey Clancy has shared a cheeky story about how she once collected Peter Crouch from training in nothing but a Burberry trench coat.

The 37-year-old model revealed she arrived at her husband's workplace completely naked underneath the luxury garment, in the hope of convincing the footballer to ditch the pitch early. Speaking on the couple's Therapy Crouch podcast, Abbey recalled making the romantic gesture during a conversation about keeping the magic alive in long term relationships.

"It's easy to surprise me – very much so," he said, to which Abbey jokingly replied, "Yeah cos you're a p**vert." Ignoring the dig, Peter continued: "If I came home and you had no clothes on. It'd be the best surprise ever. It's so simple, isn't it? All you have to do is just not wear any clothes. I mean, I'll be so happy. I'm just being honest."

The Britain's Next Top Model star then revealed she'd once picked Peter up from training in her Burberry mac coat, as Abbey confessed: "I picked you up from training once like that, didn't I?" She added: "That Burberry Mac you got me, I picked him up from training once with that on and nothing underneath it – to get him home." To which Peter admitted was "incredible" and "worked very well."

However, the 42-year-old athlete also confessed he felt responsibility as the man in their marriage to be make grand gestures. "All the onus is on the man – that's the problem, the world at the moment," he grumbled. This complaint led to a disagreement between the couple, as Abbey reminded Peter that she did try to surprise him on his birthday by hiring a stripper. Unfortunately, the 'present' didn't exactly go down well with the former footie star.

"He went ballistic. I got him a roly-poly-o-gram and he went mad," Abbey recalled. "A larger stripper, and he went mental that everyone was looking at him, so told her to instantly leave. She didn't even take one sock off."

At this point, Peter interrupted to offer his side of the story. "We were in a restaurant in Liverpool, right, with loads of random people and all of a sudden this stripper turns up, starts gyrating. I'm playing for Liverpool and England at the time and everyone started filming," he said. "I was like 'I'm sorry, but I can't do this'. So I just gave her some cash and said 'Can you leave?' Then she just went 'Oh, ok, great', and then left. I was so mortified by the whole situation.'"

At another point of the podcast, Abbey also revealed that she surprised Peter by showing up to the door with two adorable pets when they moved in together. She then reminded him, "I made you that book for your birthday of all the goals you've ever scored," before adding, "You surprised me with my first car when I passed my test for Christmas, that was nice."
