Brad has had a fall from grace in recent years

Brad Pitt has been a household name for decades now with his good looks and charisma winning him an army of fans around the world.

However, recent years have seen his Hollywood heartthrob image tainted by allegations of violent behavior, drug abuse and other controversies. He famously separated from his famous wife Angelina Jolie when she accused him of abusive behaviour on a private flight in 2016, which then saw her decide she had to leave him for their children.

Here we take a look at some of the controversies that have come to light surrounding Brad in recent years.

Abuse allegations

Angelina filed a complaint against Brad in October 2022 where so provided details of his abusive behaviour with allegations of harm against both Angelia and their children. The documents were filed as part of their legal battle over a winery they previously owned together.

Angelina accused Brad of having both a verbal and physical meltdown in September 2016 on the flight from France to California. The New York Times quoted the documents as stating that "Pitt choked one of the children and struck another in the face" and "grabbed Jolie by the head and shook her".

It reportedly also claimed he had poured beer on Angelina and both beer and red wine on the children. Angelina filed for divorce just days after the alleged incident.

Brad and Angelina got together in controversial circumstances having met on the set of movie Mr & Mrs Smith while Brad was still married to fellow acting sensation Jennifer Aniston. Brad and Jennifer announced their divorce in January 2005. Just four months later he was seen with Angelina on a beach in Africa.

Back in 2006, Angelina opened up to Vogue Magazine telling them that they had not become romantically involved until after Brad and Friends star Jen separated. In separate interviews given in 2008 both Brad and Angelina appeared to admit that they had fallen for each other while filming the movie which was released in June 2005.

Harvey Weinstein relationship

Shamed movie mogul Harvey Weinstein faced allegations of sexual harassment from several actors including Brad's former love interest Gwyneth Paltrow who he cast to star in Emma. Reports suggest that Gwyneth had a terrible experience with Weinstein and that when Brad heard about it he threatened him to stay away from her telling him: “If you ever make her feel uncomfortable again, I’ll kill you."

However, in contrast many accused Brad of continuing to work with Weinstein despite him allegedly knowing that he was a predator. Angelina claimed that Weinstein made a pass at her around 1998's movie Playing by Heart. Brad then went on to work with him on 2009's Inglourious Basterds and 2012's Killing Them Softly. Brad never commented on Weinstein's scandal.
