In case you hadn’t heard we’re now less than a week out from all the major Black Friday 2023 deals. However, if you just can’t wait to pick up a bargain, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo have already kicked off their digital sales events to make picking up games from each’s online storefront all the more tempting. What could easily have just boiled down to another rescue of Princess Peach is full of ingenious level design and inventive worlds, all made full use of thanks to Mario’s ability to throw his hat Cappy to inhabit other forms. It’s currently 33% off on the eShop, being a discount of almost £16.

Nintendo Switch 2 release set for next year as Zelda ushers in the end of Switch
George Lucas’ galaxy far, far away is no stranger to being rendered in brick form, but with LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga developer TT Games really outdid itself. This is a completely revamped interpretation that lets players venture across the galaxy to jump into the adventures of all nine mainline movies. It’s easily the most generous LEGO game yet, with countless characters to unlock, familiar locations to explore, and scenes to recreate. For just £14.99 on the eShop right now, it’s a whole lot of bang for your buck.

Yes, we know. Anyone who is anyone has probably already played The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim – probably even more than once. Fighting dragons as a sorcerer in the palm of your hands? It doesn’t get any better. For half price at just £24.99 as part of the Nintendo eShop sale, too, makes Bethesda’s best adventure harder to resist.
EA Sports FC 24

Having finally relinquished the FIFA license after a decades-long partnership, all eyes were on EA this year to see if it could still deliver all the footballing joys with EA Sports FC 24. Turns out the game felt a lot more familiar than what players had probably hoped, particularly on Nintendo Switch. However, if you know you’ll get the most out of playing seasons in handheld while on the go, this version is likely worth a punt. EA Sports FC 24 only launched this year, but it’s already available at a 50% discount on Nintendo Switch.
Red Dead Redemption

Easily one of Rockstar Games’ best stories, the original Red Dead Redemption finally made its way to Nintendo Switch this year with a dedicated port. Sure, it still runs at 30fps and very little has been done to polish it up, but for a £12 discount on its usual RRP, you can’t go far wrong. It’s very much the ultimate cowboy simulator, challenging you to hunt down lost gang members, undergo heists, and ride on horseback, all as part of a surprisingly emotional open-world adventure.
Metroid Prime Remastered

Nintendo surprised absolutely everyone earlier this year when it surprise announced the long-rumored Metroid Prime Remastered, a shined-up and sheened version of the beloved Nintendo Gamecube classic. Everything you’d expect from Samus Aran’s initial first-person adventure is present and accounted for, complete with slightly improved visuals and a new signposting system to prevent modern players from getting lost. It’s currently £10 off at just £24.49 in the Black Friday sale.
Sonic Frontiers

Sonic the Hedgehog probably has the most hit-or-miss history of all the 90s mascots when it comes to modern releases. That said, in Sonic Frontiers, Sega presents a clear attempt to make the blue blur work within a 3D space, cutting out much of the usual guidance and linearity in favour of a world made up of open zones that results in a far more freeing platforming experience. Regardless of your opinion on it, at just £19.99 trying out Sonic Frontiers on Nintendo Switch is surely a worthwhile endeavour.
Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen

If you’re excited about Capcom’s recently revealed sequel to Dragon’s Dogma but are yet to play the original, this deep discount on the Nintendo Switch version could be the way to go. This fantasy RPG will have you climbing on the backs of enemies, partying up with pawns, and using magic to fight away the darkness. It’s typically just £24.99 anyway, so at £4.24 as part of the Nintendo Switch eShop Black Friday sale, it’s an absolute steal.
Little Nightmares 1 and 2 Bundle

Although spooky season is now well and truly in the rear-view mirror, it doesn’t stop this deep discount on both Little Nightmares titles from being any less enticing. Perhaps best described as a duo of cinematic platformers with a scary tinge as opposed to true horror games, you’ll play as two small heroes challenged with navigating an incredibly dark world using stealth and ingenuity. 70% for two great games is a serious no-brainer.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Many people consider The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to be one of the greatest fantasy RPGs of all time – and those people would be right. Despite running at a lower framerate and with that typical visual smudge a lot of AAA titles on Nintendo Switch suffer from, this version of CD Projekt Red’s modern masterpiece is still a marvel to behold. For £11.99 you get upwards of 60+ hours’ worth of gameplay in one of the most engaging video game settings.
