Katie Price's mum Amy shares devastating health update after lung transplant

Katie Price's mum, Amy, has given a heartbreaking update on her health after having a lung transplant last year.

She revealed that the weather now affects her breathing. Amy, who is 71 and also mum to Sophie, 33, and Daniel, 48, was diagnosed with terminal lung disease idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis in 2017. Sadly, she was told she had three to five years to live.

A year on from her lung transplant, Amy has shared that her days are filled with "ups and downs", but she's "not too bad".

"I'm not too bad. I'm a bit up and down because the weather has an impact on my breathing, it literally takes my breath away so when I go out at the moment I'm wearing a face mask because it's easier for me to breathe with that then just trying to go along," she told the Daily Star and other press.

Amy added that recovery is a "slow process" and she's had a "few setbacks". However, things are slowly improving as she adjusts to life after her transplant. "It's a slow process and it's taken a while. I've had quite a few setbacks but that's to be expected but I'm in the right direction. I can't work out outside so I'm going on my bike in my gym and doing a spin classes. It's not mega fast, it's slow but I get up and down on it and I do a 30-minute workout and then I do some arms," Amy said.

She added: "The trouble is when you have a lung transplant it's so easy to sit because you still get a bit breathless but if I don't exercise, I won't move forward. I had a single lung transplant but it would cease up so I've got to exercise to get it working." Amy has been open about her health struggles following her diagnosis in 2017, and previously told how her illness and being faced with death encourages her to write her autobiography, The Last Word, which was released earlier this year.

In the book, the 71-year-old discusses everything from mum-of-five Katie being admitted to rehab to her many surgical procedures, as she vowed to set the record straight on any untruths about the former glamour model. Amy also shared her true feelings on her daughter's exes, saying they are all "clones of each other" and she no longer discusses men with Katie as it's "so boring".

"When it comes to men, she's made some very bad choices," she said. "In fact, we're now at the stage where we don't talk about the men in her life. To us, it's so boring."

When asked why she doesn't think Katie has found The One yet, Amy said: "They're all clones of each other. We, as a family, say to her, 'When are you going to stop going for good-looking, young, pretty boys and go for a proper man instead?' In some ways, she's better off being single and maybe having someone to take her out every now and then."

Katie, who has been engaged eight times and married thrice, is a proud mum to five kids. She shares her eldest son Harvey, 21, with Dwight Yorke, Princess, 15, and Junior, 17, with Peter Andre, and Jett, 10, and Bunny, nine with Kieran Hayler.
