I'm A Celeb star Nella Rose's life from YouTube fame and Catfish controversy

YouTube sensation Nella Rose has headed Down Under.

The 26-year-old online star is arguably one of the most unexpected contestants in this year's celeb line-up for I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here. Born and raised in Belgium, the content creator is now based in London and has had an incredible rise to fame in recent years.

The social media influencer now boasts 892,000 followers on Instagram, one million on TikTok and has 800,000 subscribers, after starting out on YouTube seven years ago, where she has quickly accumulated a loyal fanbase. It can be fair to say Nella Rose has dominated social platforms ever since her first recordings in 2016 of herself and friends and university.

Now, she has progressed into podcasting, as is part of the BBC podcast Pressed with fellow YouTubers Mariam Musa and Adeola Patronne. And as of late, she has been seen on Pretty Little Thing's YouTube series The Pink Courtroom with Love Island's Indiyah Polack - where the duo handle fallouts from friendships, failing relationships and more.

The star is only getting more successful as she previously worked with PrettyLittleThing and was also an ambassador for Fashion Nova's Curve Range. The YouTube star hosted the red carpet at the BRITS and appeared on Tapped Out and in 2022, took home a MOBO Award for Best Media Personality.

The social media superstar could be a huge hit for the ITV show. Aside from her own channel, Nella has been seen and participated in other known YouTube videos such as Channel 4, Footasylum and Sky. Fans also know her from her collaborations with Chunkz and Yung Filly.

She, alongside filmmaker Oobah Butler, co-hosted the new series of MTV's Catfish UK, which left the 26-year-old shocked at the number of people caught catfishing. Speaking about the latest series of the show with the Mirror, Nella previously revealed: "I've been the most shocked this series, especially compared to last year."

"I'm always like this," she says before opening her mouth to show her shocked expression. "I feel like that's my signature catfish face." She added: "It was shocking for me so I can only imagine how the viewers are going to feel because I experienced it God damn, so watching it now – I don't know girl!"

In the exclusive interview, Oobah revealed that being on the show made him realise that catfishing is viewed differently by the younger generation than it was when the original show first started. He explained: "I see like ethics for younger people for Gen Z people – I'm a millennial, Nella's a Gen Z. But, the ethics around catfishing seemed a little bit more grey instead of black and white."

"Blurred lines," Nella added as Oobah continued: "The situation of, like, how many normal people who are under the age of 25 or whatever who have got like catfish profiles that they just use just to move through social media." Nella interjected with: "They're called burner accounts," to which Oobah replied: "Right, yeah!"

Meanwhile, Nella revealed that hosting the show has put her off dating. She confessed: "From the last series I say, 'Oh, I'm never doing this in my life!'," as Oobah giggled. The star explained: "I've seen the outcome first hand, in real life.

"So personally I'm too scared to put myself in that situation because I'm a lover, I'm a cancer. Imagine I fall in love with you and you're not a real person? I don't know what I would do with myself. Like, what?" The social media star's slow transition from online to TV is part of her wish to mix up her content, moving away from the videos she produced "back in uni," she explained on her channel.

And it seems to be working in her favour as just the other day, she announced that she is now on the property ladder after purchasing her own home. She told fans on social media: "I did it. I bought a HOUSE," as she shared snaps of her posing in her brand new home.

Fans couldn't wait to congratulate her and amid the speculation of her joining the jungle, to wish her luck and to share that they'll be tuning in to watch her take on the gruesome bushtucker challenges. It is believed that bosses of the ITV show hope her appearance will help gain a younger audience who use YouTube and social media as their main source of entertainment.

As she landed in Australia earlier this week, Nella opted to keep tight-lipped on her upcoming jungle stint. She joked: "I am here for a holiday," before getting into a car, where she will likely be taken to her accommodation before calling the gruelling jungle camp home for the next few weeks.

But, she almost left the airport without her luggage as her driver then attempted to pull away with the boot open and her luggage outside but she screamed for him to stop and thankfully he obliged. Asked if she had been camping before, she said: "I don't know what you mean, what's camping?" And, when told it had been raining, she said: "That's cool I came for the rain." Asked if she would be scared of things like spiders and snakes, she replied: "I just want to get to my car. Thank you so much."
