Scarlette Douglas has revealed she and her I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! campmates had it easy while hinting that this year's stars might as well.

The TV presenter appeared on the ITV programme in November 2022, alongside royal Mike Tindall, Lioness star Jill Scott and controversial former Health Secretary, Matt Hancock. But while most say that their time in the Australian jungle was incredibly tough, Scarlette admits she and her campmates could relax.

Mr Hancock's decision to appear on the show left viewers at home enraged after his decisions contributed to the death of thousands during the coronavirus pandemic. But this year, former MEP Nigel Farage has been accused of racism, sexism and xenophobia over the course of his career which has rattled viewers of the ITV show.

Speaking about her time on the programme, Scarlette, 36, said: "I absolutely loved it, people always ask me 'Is it really as hard as it looks?' Yes, it is. The cameras are rolling 24/7, you don't get food unless they want you to have food. Going hours without eating, is probably the hardest thing – not being able to eat what I want, when I want.

"I guess just being in the jungle with so many different characters as well was probably the most difficult but outside of that I loved it." Scarlette continued: "I think I only had two trials to do, they were pretty easy – my experience was great. I think others who have been on the show before, maybe it was more difficult for them.

"I think with our show, a lot of the challenges and trials were done by Matt Hancock, so we didn't really have to worry about anything other than cooking the food that he won for us, so we all had it pretty easy." But the former A Place In The Sun star admits the thought of meeting her fellow campers was more nervewracking.

She admits her brother encouraged her to "be herself" and avoid playing a game or putting an act on, which she says was the "best advice" she could've received. "It really settled me, going in there and meeting these people," she said before continuing: "Boy George – I got to do my first VIP trip with Boy George on a yacht to some private little island.

"It was great, these were people that I'd watched and grown up with and to be in a camp in a jungle with them made me think 'Wow all the hard work I've been putting in is actually paying off,' so it was really nice."

This year, the likes of Marvin Humes, Sam Thompson, Jamie Lynn Spears, Grace Dent, Danielle Harold and Nigel Farage will battle it out to be crowned the King or Queen of the Jungle.

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! returns to ITV and ITVX tonight.
