BBC star Anita Rani has opened up about finding a new lease of life following her split from tech boss Bhupi Rehal after the pair went their separate ways this year following 14 years of marriage.

The Countryfile presenter says there is "no shame" in being a mid-40s singleton "living her best life" as she expressed her relief at the pair's break-up finally being out in the open. The 46-year old recently put on a stunning display as she attended the Glamour Women of the Year Awards in a revealing gown she described as part of her "liberation".

The thigh-high split ensemble proved a far cry from her farmyard wellies and wax jacket she regularly dons for the BBC countryside show - something she made no apologies for. "I’m a woman who’s worked her a**e off to become who she is, so I’ll wear whatever the damn well I like, and I’m going to love it!" Anita proudly declared.

Going one step further, Anita has now posed braless in a shoot for The Sun, telling the paper she feels 'sexier than ever.'

Anita, who was a Strictly Come Dancing finalist in 2015, explained that she wants to let all women know she's "now on the other side" and has a sense of "empowerment". She told Fabulous magazine: "Not everything works out and things come to their natural conclusion, and that is absolutely fine. I’m single, I’m child-free, I’m in my mid-40s and I have never felt better, sexier, more powerful or more excited about the future."

She continued: "I’m exercising my choice to do what the hell I want. And that feels very empowering. I’m stepping into chapter two. It means being unapologetic. It means not being afraid to own my space."

Admitting she's happy just being single at the moment, the BBC Radio 4 Woman's Hour host said she got through the summer months with a little help from her friends. "My female friendships have been so important," she explained. "I went to Glastonbury with Woman’s Hour this summer at a very poignant moment in my life.

"I had a group of the most amazing women with me, and it was exactly what I needed at that time. We were all just loving life and owning it and it felt so good. I’ve got a network of badass women who all know who they are."

Speaking of Anita and Bhupi's split in September, a source told the Mirror: "It’s really sad but they’ve decided to separate. Their hectic schedules over the past couple of years have sadly meant they’ve drifted apart over time. They remain on very good terms and wish nothing but the best for one another."
