Scarlett Moffatt has spilled the beans on what it was really like filming Gogglebox – and revealed what she actually got paid.

The 33-year-old TV star got her big break on the Channel 4 show, which she appeared in alongside mum Betty and dad Mark. Since then she has gone on to win I’m A Celebrity.. Get Me Out Of Here! and host TV shows and her own podcast.

But in a recent chat with comedians Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe on their podcast Parenting Hell, the mum-of-one opened up about her time on Gogglebox and how it all started when a researcher pal at Channel 4 suggested her family should try out for the show.

Revealing they each got paid £50 and a takeaway at the start, Scarlett said: “My dad, the man who says nothing on Gogglebox said ‘It’s £50 and a free takeaway innit? That’s honestly how it started. £50 each we used to get and a takeaway.”

Rob, who has appeared on the celebrity version of Gogglebox himself, chimed in: “I think it’s a p***take because you weren’t allowed to do anything else. You probably wouldn’t be able to do this [podcast] when you were on Gogglebox. They’ve got quite strict contracts."

Scarlett replied: “Because I didn’t live at home, I thought, this is a perfect way of actually being able to go home and watch telly with my family, have a takeaway and stuff. So actually it was quite nice. When I look back it’s fond memories.”

“Yeah but you were getting paid £50,” Rob cut in. “Do you know how much Channel 4 are getting paid for adverts?” Scarlett then said: “Do you know what always think about – I’ve never actually said this before – but it was a bit exploitative. My face was on T-shirts, Easter eggs, books. We couldn’t like agree to that, disagree. We didn’t get paid for any of that. Now I think about that, I should have been getting at least a penny for each Easter egg sold or something with my face on!” The Mirror has reached out to Channel 4 for further comment on this story.

Scarlett recently got engaged to boyfriend Scott Dobinson six months after the couple welcomed their first child together. Taking to Instagram to share the happy news, she wrote: "Mondays are my new favourite day," alongside the post which showed the words 'Marry Me' illuminated in block letters across their living room.

Scott had also scattered rose petals all over the white carpet, lit tea candles on the coffee table and displayed heart-shaped balloons as well as a bouquet of lush flowers behind the message. Their baby son Jude was pictured lying adorably in her crib.

"Walked in to find my soulmate on one knee, with baby Jude wearing the cutest outfit asking the question 'Mammy will you marry Daddy.' The most perfect proposal in my favourite place, our home. I truly am on cloud nine, feel so lucky, it feels incredible being able to share this with you all, I always wished for this,” Scarlett told fans.
