Boots will be shutting three more stores for good today as it presses ahead with its plans to close 300 branches.

The major health and beauty retailer announced earlier this year that it was planning to cut down the number of branches from 2,200 to 1,900. Three of the branches earmarked for closure will be going today (November 18) and will be in Exeter, Ashfield, and Plymouth.

The branch set to shut in Plymouth is on Mudge Way and the branch in Excetor is on Mount Pleasant Road. The site set to go in Kirkby in Ashfield is the Boots branch on Low Moor Road. Signs were placed in all three of the Boots branches informing customers of the closure dates according to local reports.

The Plymouth site is located next to Plympton Health Centre and the NHS has to issue a warning to patients who use the store to collect their prescriptions, PlymouthLive reports. A notification was sent to patients of Beacon Medical Group, and it read: "As you may have already heard, Boots have decided to close their branch next to Plymouth Health Centre.

"This means you will need to find and 'nominate' another pharmacy to dispense your prescriptions going forward. You can set your nomination by contacting your new pharmacy and requesting they do this for you."

Patients who use the Mount Pleasant Road brand in Exeter have also been warned of potential disruptions to prescriptions. Patients who use the store have been asked to discuss their future prescription requirements with a member of the Boots Pharmacy team.

According to reports from DevonLive, a note attached to the Mount Pleasant pharmacy door reads: "Boots Mount Pleasant Store will close on Saturday, November 18 2023. Please discuss your future prescription requirements with a member of the team who will be happy to advise you. We have a number of different ways in which we can continue to support you with your ongoing prescription needs. Please ask for more details."

Patients who use the pharmacy have been told their nearest stores and pharmacies will be at the Exe Bridges Retail Park or on the High Street. For customers using the Ashfield store, the closest Boots pharmacy branch will now be in Sutton in Ashfield.

Alongside these branches, the Boots store in Gorleston, Great Yarmouth is also expected to close this month, however an official date has yet to be confirmed. More Boots branches are planned to shut for good in the new year and this round of closures includes stores in Stanstead, Kent, Swindon and Prudhoe
