Rapper Meek Mill has shared the shocking announcement that he is going to follow in Snoop Dogg's footsteps as he is also quitting smoking weed following "doctor's orders."

This week, legendary rapper Snoop Dogg shared the unexpected news on social media that he is "giving up smoke" for good. As the cannabis connoisseur and rap icon announced that he would be quitting the drug, Meek Mill followed suit sharing on social media that is also planning on making the drastic lifestyle change.

On Friday, the 36-year-old rapper took to X, formerly Twitter, sharing that he is also going to quit smoking marijuana. He wrote: "Ima go to Dubai and completely stop smoking … ima follow snoop, my doctor said I got a lil bit emphysema in a chest if I don’t stop smoking it cuts my lifeline in half, I was addicted to the nicotine and this new weed got too many chemicals and too risky to play with my mental!"

Meek Mill said he was inspired by both Snoop and doctor's orders to quit following the discovery that there was a small amount of emphysema in his chest. Emphysema is a disease that compromises COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) that develops over time that involves the break down of lung tissue, according to the American Lung Association.

The "All Eyes on You" singer was not exaggerating when he said it can cut your lifespan down significantly if action is not taken. Patients that have emphysema and continue to keep smoking put themselves at high risk as it can increase the severity of the disease and result in shortening their overall life span by 10 years or more.

Fans of the "Bugatti" singer responded to the post wishing him well on his journey to quitting. One fan wrote: "This is good bro! I love seeing influential people use their influence for good things." Another agreed: "Good for your health. We love you and want you alive bro." And a third responded: "That's great that snoop influenced you to stop smoking too. It will definitely help your body to be more healthy."
