She once admitted she was "hopeless" at looking for love, but Alex Scott might have finally found 'the one'.

The BBC Sport star is now blissfully happy after confirming that she's dating Don't Be So Hard on Yourself singer Jess Glynne as the pair were pictured enjoying a kiss earlier this month. Off the pitch, Alex, 39, has become an icon for the LGBTQ+ community after candidly revealing she enjoyed an eight-year relationship with a fellow teammate while playing for England. However, the former right back has said she doesn't want to label her sexuality, explaining she has had relationships with both men and women.

It's been a rocky road to romance for the former footballer, who has also dated a soap stud, which she admitted got off to the 'worst start possible'. So, as we get ready to watch the Arsenal star in action tonight presenting Children In Need, here's the lowdown on the Londoner's love life.

'Doomed' date with Corrie hunk

Back in 2020, Alex went on a date with Coronation Street star Sam Robertson - who has played Adam Barlow on the Cobbles since 2004. However, a member of the public reportedly put paid to any romantic future for the pair after they intruded on their night out.

Reflecting on the date in 2021, Alex explained she had been excited to meet up with the soap stud before things went wrong. She said: “I never seem to have a lot of luck on dates. My one date in ages was going out with Sam [Robertson], who is lovely. The next morning, our pictures were all over the press because someone in the restaurant had taken a photo. It wasn't exactly a great start.”

She said in a subsequent interview she doesn’t mind single life because she is 'quite independent'. She told The Sunday Times: “My life has always been about being independent, making sure you can look after yourself and never wanting to feel that someone can walk out on you and take everything away from you.”

In love with a Lioness

In her 2022 autobiography, How (Not) To Be Strong, Alex revealed she dated fellow Lioness Kelly Smith for eight years from 2005 until 2013. Speaking of their time together, Alex said she fell "madly and deeply in love" with her teammate - but said she debated whether or not to include their romance in her memoir.

Speaking at her book launch last year, she said: “I went back and forth on whether I’d actually be writing the chapter. But then it was one of those moments, I’m writing this book and I want to tell everything. I thought I’d be cheating you all if I didn’t put that in there. And for me, it’s like that first love story, I fell madly and deeply in love.

“And yes, there’s that heartbreak and those things, but it’s a huge part of my life and I wouldn’t go back and change that. Because that feeling of love and that excitement and what it gives you, it needed to be in there.”

Jess Glynne

Alex sent a sweet message to Jess on her birthday in October, marking her first public acknowledgement of their relationship since it was reported they were dating.

The former footballer took to Instagram to pay tribute to the singer turning 34, posting a sweet snap in honour of her special day. "Happy new song day and you day," Alex wrote alongside a photo of Jess posing on a sun-drenched deck next to the sea. Alex also added an extract of the Grammy winner's latest tune, Friend of Mine, to the post.

It was reported in October, Alex had been seeing the Take Me Home star for months, but was choosing to keep their romance out of the spotlight. A source told The Sun: "Alex and Jess have been a slow burn and they didn't want to rush things or go public too soon. But they're officially an item now and seem really happy. They are both strong, independent women with a shared passion and respect of their respective careers, supporting one another from the sidelines."

However, earlier this month the pair appeared to confirm they relationship after they were papped kissing in London. In pictures obtained by outlet, the couple looked loved up as they hugged and shared a kiss on their walk before heading in different directions.

The outing comes after Alex reportedly met Jess’s parents during a night out in London when the singer put on an intimate performance for fans at the Hawley Arms pub. Alex also indirectly hinted at a relationship when the duo made their first red carpet event at the Attitude Awards in October.

According to the Daily Mail, Jess’ parents are 'delighted' their daughter is dating Alex, with a source saying: “They’ve met Alex and think she’s wonderful. But they realise that she’s quite a high-profile figure and are reluctant to speak too much about her and their daughter.”
