Chris Ramsey made his name as a solo star but nowadays he's part of a successful comedy couple.

The Children In Need presenter and his wife Rosie have turned banter, bickering and funny stories into a winning, money-spinning formula and listeners can't get enough. Born in South Shields in the North East of England Chris, 37, began his career touring local venues as a stand-up.

His 2011 Offermation tour was nominated for an Edinburgh Comedy Award and he went on to star in BBC Two's Hebburn, which ran for two series. A role presenting ITV's I'm A Celebrity! Get Me Out Of Here's spin-off show, Extra Camp followed and by 2017, the star had bagged his own show, The Chris Ramsey Show, on Comedy Central. The funnyman became a regular on TV panel shows and in 2019 he signed up for BBC's Strictly Come Dancing.

Partnered with professional dancer Karen Hauer, Chris boogied his way to the semi-finals, becoming a fan favourite along the way. Next came his wisest career move - teaming up with his wife Rosie for the hit weekly podcast Sh**ged Married Avoided. And when we say hit we mean it - the show has a staggering 100m listeners and when the couple decided to take it on tour, they sold out Wembley Arena in a day. A TV show, BBC Two's The Chris & Rosie Ramsey Show, was soon to follow.

Chris has been with his wife, also from South Shields, for 11 years with sons Robin, seven, and Rafe, two. The couple met when they were 14 and later went to the same college but barely spoke. Chris admitted: “Rosie was out of my league" but in 2012 they bumped into each other at a local nightclub and the rest was history. Chris was a young stand-up at the time and Rosie was the singer in a girl group.

Rosie, 37, went on to host a local radio show and perform at Pontins before becoming a stay-at-home mum, with the podcast then making her a household name. She followed her husband onto Strictly Come Dancing last year, appearing on the BBC show's Christmas special with professional dancer Neil Jones.

The couple open up their lives to listeners on their podcast, with fans loving to stop them in the street to chat about their everyday rows. The most popular up for discussion is, according to Chris, how he claims Rosie stacks the dishwasher "like a shot putter", stacking items at random.

“We are a normal couple who argue and fight and that’s life," said Rosie. "We live in a world of social media where people only put their highlights reels out." Chris once hit out at Rosie's confession that her teenage Sunday nights, which saw her head to the cinema with her best friend Steph, were "some of the best days of my life". "Steph could drive and I couldn't, so she used to pick me up and we'd get a McDonalds and sweets," Rosie explained.

"My long-running beef with you is that you say that some really sh**e things are the best days of your life when you currently have two beautiful children with me," said Chris. The pair quickly made up and say Rosie likes having the last word.

“What you have is two childhood show-offs who followed it into later life and made a career out of it," said Chris. "We genuinely enjoy each other's company."
