Emmerdale’s Matthew Wolfenden hints at reunion with wife Charley Webb
Emmerdale star Matthew Wolfenden has left fans hoping that his marriage to Charley Webb is back on track after a tough year for the couple.
Rumours of a split started to circulate after it emerged that he had unfollowed his wife on social media. And speculation of a split was further cemented as Charley moved her wedding ring to her right hand, earlier this month. But now, fans noticed that the 43-year-old soap star has re-followed his wife of 15 years, who is also the mother of his three children, Buster, 12, Bowie, six, and Ace, three.
However, despite this telling move, it has also been noticed that he has not commented on any of her recent pictures or posted about her in over a year. A source told The sun at the time of split rumours: "Charley and Matthew were in very different places in their lives when they first got together. Three kids later and with new careers in the mix, everything has changed and perhaps they are no longer the unit they once were."
On November 3rd, the actress who left the ITV soap two years ago and appeared in the popular drama on serial killer Peter Sutcliffe, The Long Shadow, was spotted looking downcast as she entered the doors of the Theatre Royal in Norwich. Charley starred in the stage production of Quiz and as she opened the doors, her wedding ring was seen on her right hand, instead of the traditional left hand.
The couple first met back in 2007 and in 2009, Matthew popped the question to Charley. But by 2013, they decided to call time on their relationship but reunited two years later. And things appeared to be going well as they then tied the knot in a lavish wedding ceremony surrounded by their close friends and family. At the time, guests were duped into thinking that they were turning up to wish Charley a happy 30th birthday but instead they were witnesses to their surprise nuptials.
EastEnders' Jake Wood's snap of son has fans pointing out the pair's likenessSpeaking to OK! Matthew revealed: "Our guests thought they were coming to Charley’s 30th party - then we told them it was our wedding! That moment when we announced what we were doing and seeing everybody’s reaction is the best moment of my life. We couldn’t have had a better response. People just screamed for about ten minutes!" But before their memorable wedding, the pair's relationship had been put to the test as it was plagued by rumours of infidelity.
In 2013, when the couple split, Matthew had been at the centre of a cheating scandal after a fan named Klaire Holloway came forward to claim that she enjoyed a one-night stand with the actor when he was 33. Selling her story to The Sun, she said at the time: "He was very affectionate but the sex was nothing to write home about. It wasn't very exciting and I got bored."
Dismissing the story, Matthew tweeted: "Is it just me or does anyone else not sleep properly when there's a full moon?!” Matthew recently quit his role as David Metcalfe in Emmerdale after 18 years and has since jumped straight into rehearsing for his new role in Elf.
