I'm A Celebrity star takes swipe at Matt Hancock and reveals brutal camp snub

Scarlette Douglas has hit out at her former campmate Matt Hancock as she opened up on keeping in touch with last year's I'm A Celebrity contestants.

The Place in the Sun presenter joined Good Morning Britain on Thursday to discuss her experience. She told Kate Garraway, Ben Shephard and Ranvir Singh: "We had so much fun, I was teaching Matt Hancock how to dance, that was an experience."

Ben asked: "Are you still in touch with Mr Hancock?" "Definitely not, no," Scarlette replied before Ben questioned whether she'd kept in touch with any of her other former campmates.

"Everybody, other than him," she quipped. Kate asked whether there was a WhatsApp group for the I'm A Celebrity 2023 series.

Scarlette sheepishly replied: "Yes there's a WhatsApp group...he's not here." Former I'm A Celebrity contestant Kate admitted she suffered a WhatsApp snub alongside the other 2019 campmates. "

Our plane took off, [from Australia] and she exited herself. We were all sitting there and we saw 'Caitlyn Jenner has left the group'. I'm still mates with Caitlyn though, I have her number."

Returning to the subject of the former health secretary, Ben asked Scarlette: "Have you crossed paths with Mr Hancock at all?" She replied: "No, I haven't for ages and it's been great."

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly were subject to a huge backlash last year after signing up the disgraced former health secretary Matt Hancock. I'm A Celebrity fans have been left furious again this year following the confirmation that former UKIP leader and The Brexit Party founder Nigel Farage had joined the line-up.

One angry viewer tweeted: "I didn't watch #ImACelebrity last year because Hancock was in it and I won't watch #ImACelebrity this time because Farage is in it. I don't believe there's anything to celebrate about either of them."

"Well that is me out this year. It was hard work watching Hancock last year. Celebrities come from a background of entertaining. Farage is vile. Shame on you @ITV @imacelebrity #imacelebrity," another vented.

A third added: "So last year they gave me the plank that is Matt Hancock on I’m a Celeb and I barely watched it because of him being on it, this year you give me Nigel Farage. So this year I give you @imacelebrity boycott #ReadTheRoomItv."

I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! 2023 starts on ITV on Sunday at 9pm.
