Kym Marsh has shared an emotional update about her beloved dad's terminal cancer.

The 47-year-old TV presenter revealed that her father, who has been battling prostate cancer, with the disease spreading to his spine meaning doctors could no longer treat him with chemotherapy. The pop group Hear'Say star took to Instagram to share a picture of herself in a hospital waiting room during one of her dad's appointments.

She captioned the photo: "Another scan for dad, Never away from the hospital these days." along with a tearful face emoji. Earlier this month, Kym appeared on BBC Morning Live with co-presenter Gethin Jones, where she discussed her dad's deteriorating condition.

Her father, David, 78, had previously been on the show to stress the importance of prostate checks after he delayed visiting the doctor during the pandemic. Gethin welcomed Kym back to the show, saying: "Kym, it's been a minute since we've seen you." To which Kym responded: "I know, it's been a little while, hasn't it?"

Kym said: "Yes, Morning Live has been following dad's cancer diagnosis, which was about two and a half years ago, I think now, and his latest scan results have shown, unfortunately, that there are more cancer deposits further up his spine now. They are doing further scans to see if it's gone into any more of his bones, but unfortunately, they can't offer him chemotherapy."

The former Coronation Street also shared that doctors had encouraged her and her family to spend as much time with her dad as they could. She added: "So that's what we've been doing. We went out on Halloween to a lights trail, and he's just been enjoying spending time with his family."

Last year, the actress shared that her dad had delayed going to the doctors due to the pandemic, ultimately resulting in the cancer spreading to his pelvis, spine, ribs, and left leg. She shared his diagnosis in the hopes of raising awareness about the illness and encouraging others to go and get checked.

Talking to her thousands of followers, Kym penned: "This is our wonderful Daddy. For people that don't know, he has incurable cancer. But [he] is being treated by the amazing doctors and nurses at his local cancer centre to keep the horrible disease away for as long as possible."
