An ITV star has confirmed his belief that Holly Willoughby will make a return to TV after her shock exit from This Morning last month.

Dr Ranj, who previously appeared on This Morning as the medical expert, has shared details of a text exchange he recently had with Holly and declared the mum-of-three "too good" to quit her career as a TV presenter completely.

Holly made the decision to step back from her ITV presenting role last month as she shared a statement that revealed she made the decision 'for her and her family'. The daytime TV darling, who presented This Morning for 14 years prior to her resignation on October 10, hasn't yet confirmed if and when she will return to our screens.

Holly is due to present the new series of Dancing On Ice next year alongside a new co-host following her former pal Phillip Schofield parting ways with ITV earlier this year. However, it's not yet been officially confirmed if Holly will resuming her hosting duties on the ice rink when the show returns.

Speaking to Closer this week, Dr Ranj praised his former This Morning co-star and gushed: "Of course she [Holly] will come back to TV, she's too good not to. I don't know where or what show, but she's so good at it, it would be a shame for her to back away completely."

Dr Ranj previously voiced his thoughts on This Morning as he slammed the show as 'toxic', yet he didn't let it stop him keeping in contact with Holly as he said that he still wanted to check up on his former colleague. He admitted: "I messaged Holly just to check she was OK.

"Everything that's happened with her has been really tough. We all reached out and just want to make sure she's alright. She replied and she's good. Obviously it's a really difficult place for her to be in and she made a really difficult decision, but the kind thing to do is to reach out and just check in."

Holly stepped down from her role of hosting ITV 's This Morning after 14 years last month, as she shared a statement to her Instagram which read: "I have let ITV know today that after 14 years, I will not be returning to This Morning. To everyone who has ever worked on the show over the years, thank you so so much.

"This is such a difficult goodbye, you are incredible and I forever will be proud of what we've done together.I will not be returning to This Morning. Thank you to everyone at ITV for being supportive. To every guest who has sat on our sofa, thank you. Most of all, thank you to the wonderful viewers.

"You've been so loyal so supportive and the very best company every day. Richard and Judy said 'we only look after this show, it will always belong to the viewers'. It's been an honour to just be part of its story and I know this story has many chapters left to go. Sadly, however, I now feel I have to make this decision for me and my family. I will miss you all so much. Holly."
