Patricke Conley, 42, from Tennessee, US, lost control of his car after hitting a post box and crashed into the SUV of parents Dustin and Brittany Dillard, both 33, and their three young boys.

He was arrested after his car went up in the air before colliding with Brittany's Jeep Wagoneer SUV.

Cops arrived at the scene and found the car flipped over with both parents pronounced dead.

The three children were left seriously injured as Conley was charged with two counts of vehicular homicide and three counts of vehicular assault.

According to court documents, several "Bud Light beer cans" were found inside the suspect's car.

However, he could now be forced to pay make child support payments to the three young children after Tennessee Senate passed a law in April 2022.

It states drink drivers should make child support payments if they cause the death of a parent.

Drink drivers would have to pay until the child turns 18. The amount would be decided by a court.

Conley, who was in a wheelchair, appeared in court on December 29 with a huge laceration to his face. He pleaded not guilty.

The crash saw eyewitnesses rushing to the parent's car after hearing the collision.

Charles, who heard the incident outside his home, told The National Desk : "I heard an explosion outside.

"My son, he came down to me and he said, 'There [were] two vehicles that were flipped over on their top,' and I went ahead and grabbed my jacket and I ran outside."

He ran over to help Conley before realising three children were also in the back of the car as he attempted to gain entry.

Unfortunately, he wasn't able to get the children out of the car and had to wait for police.

The three kids named as Preston, Pierce, and Pryor are set to make a full recovery, according to Bradley County Schools.

Students paid tribute to Brittany online, who was a science teacher at Walker Valley High School in Cleveland, Tennessee.

Brandon Akiona said: "Mrs Dillard was more than a teacher, she was a light at Walker Valley High School and a role model to so many.

"I know now how lucky I was to be one of those few lucky students call Mrs. Dillard’s class my safe space freshman year.

"I was lucky to sit on that old couch, talking everything from Newton’s laws to Enneagrams with her.

"Lucky to answer questions of the day and spend all of class laughing about our crazy answers. Lucky to be in the room when she announced to our class that she was going to be a mom."
