The Crown star Elizabeth Debicki appeared to channel Princess Diana as she wowed in an elegant LBD at the LA premiere ahead of the final series of the Netflix drama.

The actress, 33, cut a sophisticated appearance in a fitted one shoulder black dress by Bottega Vaneta as her blonde tresses fell loosely around her shoulders. And while she stunned onlookers, many couldn't help but make a comparison to the famous little black dress that Princess Diana wore back in 1994. Diana's dress became headline news the world over after she attended a fundraiser dinner hosted by Vanity Fair magazine, moments after revelations of Prince Charles' infidelities emerged.

Designed by Christina Stambolian, the late Princess, who tragically died in 1997 following a car crash, wore the off-the-shoulder black dress to the event held in London's Kensington Gardens. And she teamed it with a sapphire and pearl chocker, which was gifted to her by the late Queen Mother. Diana had reportedly owned the £900 silk dress for three years before wearing it, as she thought it was too daring.

After it came to light that her marriage to Prince Charles had broken down beyond repair, Diana's dress was immediately dubbed The Revenge Dress. But this is not the first time Elizabeth and her stylist Elizabeth Saltzman have re-created red carpet looks based on the late Princess' wardrobe. At last year's premiere, the star wore a Dior gown which looked similar to the one wore by the royal at the 1987 Cannes Film Festival.

At the time, it had been leaked that Diana was going to wear Valentino to the high profile dinner and so decided to wear the off-the-shoulder gown by the Greek designer instead. Referencing Swan Lake, which was on of Diana's favourite ballet performances, the designer said: "She chose not to play the scene like Odette, innocent in white. She was clearly angry. She played it like Odile in black. She wore bright red nail enamel, which we had never seen her do before. She was saying 'let's be wicked tonight.'" And Diana's former stylist, Anna Harvey added: "She wanted to look a million dollars. And she did."

The famous dress was sold at auction for £39,098, in 1997. It was purchased by a Scottish couple who bought it to raise money for children's charities. Speaking about playing Diana in her final days, Elizabeth told the Mirror: "We were in a really beautiful part of the world, so I constantly let that just wash over me. To try and relax. I know what’s to come, which was very demanding. I’m carrying this very profound sadness in me while I was shooting that. So, when I wasn’t doing that I let myself be very happy.”

The star added: "It was difficult to recreate. It was heavy and very manic, and incredibly invasive.” And being pursued by the paparazzi felt too realistic for Elizabeth which came through in that particular scene. She said: “You only have to be in that situation for a minute, before you realise it is completely unbearable. You feel very trapped. It’s a really unpleasant experience. It’s really horrendous to have that many people yelling at you and wanting something.”
