Coronation Street's Peter Barlow set for violent twist ahead of sad exit
Coronation Street is lining up violent scenes for Peter Barlow as he spirals out of control ahead of his exit on the ITV soap.
It was recently confirmed by Corrie that Peter actor Chris Gascoyne will be leaving his role after more than 20 years, while it's said he will be back at some point. The character is set to bow out from the show fresh from him accidentally killing Stephen Reid, as he tried to halt the serial killer's antics.
In the fallout to the death twist Peter has been struggling, with him once again facing his demons after a battle with alcoholism. As he continues to row with partner Carla Connor next week, an incident with some of the teens leads to him acting out and turning violent.
Peter will continue to face his demons in the coming weeks ahead of him bowing out of the show. Next week, viewers will see the character lashing out at Mason and Dylan over some stolen vapes, with him barging in to Dylan's house shouting, before grabbing the teenager.
Peter is goaded by vile Mason over Stephen's murder causing him to lose it. After he breaks the door down, he heads straight for Dylan and lashes out, leaving him terrified.

As Peter's behaviour shocks and worries those around him, can he find away to deal with his demons or will he push everyone away? It comes amid actor Chris Gascoyne's looming exit from the ITV soap in the coming weeks.
It was reported in July that actor Chris was bowing out of the ITV soap for "an extended break", more than 20 years after he first appeared in the role. He first appeared as Peter in 2000 and made a permanent return in 2016 after a few exits over the years.
A source told The Mirror that Chris had decided to "take an extended break" from the soap, after initial reports suggested he had quit the role for good. Chris recently confirmed the departure and revealed it tied in to the Stephen plot.
He said: "Well he has just killed someone so there are so many storylines that can come out of that and so many reasons that he might not be around any more. All I will say is I am delighted with my exit storyline, the scripts are superb and I can’t wait to see the reaction to how Peter leaves the street."
