A woman who had recently called off her wedding to the father of her two children has been left shocked and stunned after finding out from her best friend that the night of their proposal wasn’t all it seemed. After calling the wedding off due to lack of funds, the ex-bride-to-be, who goes by the name of Junior-Growth-6561 on Reddit, told users she had since learned some shocking news from her friend that had left her reeling.

“I have been planning a wedding for two years now and we just had to cancel it due to funding,” she said. “My mum offered us £10,000 and she isn't going to deliver and I'm finding out four months before the wedding. There is no way I can come up with the extra funds, so I cancelled it.”

After calling her best friend Hannah to tell her the news of their split, she was shocked to find her friend had been keeping a secret she wasn’t willing to share – until now. She continued: "My friend Hannah came to stay with me and my family during the summer two years ago. After being here for a couple of days I found out James and her have been planning my engagement. A lot of people ended up coming out to support me and I felt obligated to say yes. However, I'm not sure if we were both ready.”

After partying the night away, post-proposal, her fiancé had a proposal of a different kind to make to her friend, who was staying at their house that night. “She says he went out to the living room where Hannah was and tried to sleep with her! I guess she told him to stop multiple times and he wouldn't! So sick! And then she pretended like nothing had happened for two years!”

During that time, the unwitting bride-to-be had another child with her fiancé, while planning their wedding day in preparation for spending the rest of her life with him. She continued: “How could he do this to our family? My best friend is supposed to feel safe in my home and I got her assaulted. I don't know what to do.”

“Usually I would look to my mum, but she knew the whole time! I feel so betrayed. We have two kids together. I could never forgive him. Some advice, please. I don't know what to do and how to be strong for me and my boys.”

Reddit readers were on her side, with one commenting: “You didn't get her assaulted, he assaulted her. That was 100 per cent on him, and you do not bear any responsibility for his disgusting actions, while another commented: “Call him out and get a lawyer so he can never be with your kids unsupervised!” Another reader said: “So gross. I guess you can demand a friendly split or else you will tell people what he did.”
