It's that glorious time of year when our summer tan fades and our skin gets all dry and flaky as a result of the colder winds and ever-changing weather conditions. Thankfully, a doctor who posts skincare advice on TikTok and has amassed over 22,000 followers has shared a number of products and tips to maintain a healthy skin barrier and get your skin glowing brighter than your Christmas tree this winter.

And one product Dr Nicole James has recommended is discounted on Amazon with 40% off and has "transformed" the skin of some shoppers. The First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream Intense Hydration Moisturiser for Face and Body (170g) is now £17 - down from £28 - and is a "head-to-toe" moisturiser that provides instant relief and long-term hydration for dry and distressed skin. Plus, unlike many heavy-duty moisturizers, this doesn't leave your skin feeling greasy.

The doctor shared a number of different products and explained their benefits, saying: "We do not want to have flaky and dry skin this winter. So let me give you my top tips on building a winter skincare routine.

"Having a winter skincare routine might sound extra, but it's really important if you're someone who has very dry or combination skin. That is going to get worse in the winter. So my first tip is scale back on the actives."

She stated that these products can be "drying and harsh" on your skin - especially when you and your skin are battling the outside elements. Next, she suggests switching up your moisturiser to something "more hydrating" that will lock in moisture. "When choosing this winter moisturiser, I want you to look for ingredients that are humectants. Such as glycerine and hyaluronic acid," Dr Nicole said.

Sharing her favourite product, she added: "I love this one from First Aid. It's the Ultra Repair Cream. Really moisturising, really thick, it's going to lock in that moisture." Citing a cheaper brand, she suggested The Ordinary's Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA moisturiser.

When it comes to serum, Dr Nicole stated that if there was ever a time to introduce a serum that's going to help replenish that moisture in your skin, it's now.

"I am in love with this one from Depology. It's the Matrixyl 3000. Always reaching for it in the winter." She recommended The Ordinary's Multi Peptide Serum for a cheaper alternative - although it "doesn't do as good of a job as the Topology one in my opinion".

And shoppers who have purchased the First Aid Beauty moisturising cream have sung its praises, with a number declaring how it helped to "transform" their skin.

"I've been using this daily for the past 3 months and my skin has really transformed from flaky and red to soft & smooth. Highly recommended," said one.

Another added: "This product is so good and hydrating for the skin. I absolutely love it."

A third stated: "Love this item. Massive tub , will last ages. So soothing and calming worked on my skin quickly to repair flaking and redness after a retinol product. Highly recommend."

While the vast majority of customers who left the product a five-star review said that it was incredible for dry skin, some "found it to be more of a sealant" and declared it was simply "Ok". Another stated how it made their "eczema prone skin drier".

Skincare lovers have also been raving about Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream, Hailey Bieber favourite Weleda Skin Food and E45's Daily Protect SPF Face Moisturiser (which is only £9.99).
