A shock was in store for viewers when Megan Barton-Hanson unexpectedly dropped out of Love Island Games for ‘medical reasons.’
The blonde bombshell, who shot to fame in series four of the UK version of the reality hit, was notable for her absence in Sunday night’s episode. Narrator Ian Stirling broke the news, with producers explaining that Megan left the villa for ‘medical reasons’ – but they didn’t specify what the health issue was. In September, the 29-year-old OnlyFans star and podcast presenter opened up about her struggles with Pelvic Inflammatory Disease.
Taking to social media, she wrote: “I’d never heard of it, but think I may have had my first experience. I’ve not had pain/fever quite like it. The last 5 days have been hell… if you have any good Essex/London-based gynecologist recommendations, please let me know, or any tips or remedies for the pain and to stop it from recurring.”

Fan favourite Megan had been making waves on the global spin-off, hosted by Maya Jama, after forming a sizzling connection with fellow contestant Kyra Green. After sharing a steamy kiss, the pair became the show’s first same-sex coupling. Kyra, who appeared in the first season of Love Island USA, was left reeling – but admitted Megan's sickness put a strain on their romance.
“I’m okay. It’s definitely upsetting… just obviously on different pages, and I haven’t been really able to get on the same page because she’s been sick and out of here,” she said, adding: “I feel like I’m in shock. I thought she was going to walk in tonight and be like, whatever." Megan has yet to publicly comment on her surprise exit, and it’s not known if she’ll be able to return to the villa.
Puzzled viewers were dumbfounded by the turn of events and flagged that Megan’s health hadn’t been mentioned up until now. One wrote, “The way they threw Megan left due to medical reasons in there like it was nothing?”, while another added: “I’m so disappointed, Megan was the most dramatic bombshell by far and she just left the show because she’s sick?”
However, others weren’t so convinced and theorised that she went walkies after being giving the elbow by former flame Eyal Booker on the show, commenting: “Wait, so Megan just left because of an illness??? It’s giving… she was embarrassed about being pied off by Eyal and then couldn’t just f*** around.”
