Big Brother fans fume 'is that all you have to say' as show swerves Trish drama

Big Brother: Late & Live fans were unimpressed as the show failed to mention recent goings on, amid housemate Trish being pulled from the show earlier on Sunday.

Trish was meant to appear on the spin-off series on Sunday night following her surprise eviction alongside co-star Chanelle on Friday. But in the days that have followed her exit, Trish has spoken out after historic offensive tweets posted on her Twitter account resurfaced.

The tweets have since been deleted, but not before they sparked outrage with viewers who were left disappointed by what they had seen. As a result of the resurfaced messages, ITV confirmed Trish would no longer appear on Late & Live as planned, while they are also said to be looking into why the tweets were not discovered prior to Trish entering the house.

On the show on Sunday evening, host Will Best simply said: "Trish won’t be joining us this evening," while not addressing anything further. Viewers noted it apparently took 12 minutes for anyone to even mention Trish, while the tweets and her absence were not really commented on.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, viewers fumed at the show for "sweeping the drama under the carpet" as others said they should have addressed the issue. Producers were accused of "trying to avoid" things, with one fan commenting: "Are Big Brother actually sweeping the Trish drama under the carpet?"

Another said: "This is so disappointing from ITV, the Trish situation needed to be addressed before any discussion of tonight’s episode. Will just looks completely out of his depth, this is such an uncomfortable viewing."

A third fan said: "so they’re going to address the Trish situation by ignoring it fairs." A fourth said: "'Trish won't be joining us this evening' Is that all you have to say? No explanation?"

Earlier on Sunday, Trish posted a statement on her X account where she apologised to "marginalised groups" for the now-deleted tweets. She said: "I'm aware that some very concerning old tweets of mine have re-surfaced, and I would like to sincerely apologise for the harmful stereotypes I perpetuated and the pain I have caused to the marginalised communities and groups of people mentioned.

"There are no excuses for the ignorance that I showed and I am deeply disappointed, embarrassed and ashamed that I once made such comments. I have come a very long way since by educating myself and being educated by others on the impact and harm those views cause."

She added: "It is part of the reason why I am so passionate about standing up for others and holding myself to a high standard of responsibility and accountability for my actions.

"I appreciate the support you've all given me on the show and I understand you feel disappointed. I know apologises can seem convenient but I mean it from the bottom of my hear: I am truly sorry.

"I hope it is possible for you to offer me grace and believe people can change. I am committed to being the person I am now, the person you have known my as – someone who speaks up, stands for what they believe in and always open to growth and accountability. Love Trish"."
