Jesy Nelson has been snapped behind the wheel as she learns to drive for the first time at the age of 32.

The former Little Mix star was seen out on a driving lesson in a £22,000 red Toyota Yaris in her hometown of Essex. It’s the first time the Bad Thing singer has been publicly pictured since June when she announced she was taking a career break to go travelling.

Now it seems passing her driving test is top of Jesy’s priority list as the ex-girl band star was spotted out on a lesson with a male driving instructor. But the pop star was barely recognisable from her usual glam self as she dressed down in a green camouflage print parka coat with fur hood and a pair of dark sunglasses.

The recent sighting comes five months after Jesy announced she was putting her solo career on hold so she could go travelling around the world. Taking to Instagram, she told her 10 million followers she would be going ‘off-grid’ for a while as she took a break from her hectic celebrity lifestyle.

She wrote: "Hey guys! So for a long time I've really wanted to go travelling but never had the time to do it. I've got some really exciting things coming up with work and my music, but until then I'm gonna take the summer off to travel the world.” Revealing she would be off social media for a while, Jesy added: “I love you all so much and I’l see you when I’m back!”

As she has been posting much less, it’s unclear where Jesy went over the summer on her travels of a lifetime, but it seems she’s definitely back in the UK now – and fans are eager for her to drop new music soon.

The break also came after Jesy was dealt a career setback when her latest single Bad Thing failed to make a major impact on the charts.

Bad Thing was released on April 14 and was her second single after controversy over her first solo attempt, Boyz, was released in October 2021.

Her collaboration track with led to accusations she was appropriating black culture in her accompanying music video. Shortly afterwards, Jesy Polydor, with a source saying the popstar was on good terms with the label but the two parties had been "going in different directions" over her music.

As well as her solo career having a few teething problems since she quit Little Mix in 2021 after 10 years in the band, Jesy also recently split with her musician boyfriend who she had been dating for around a year.

But after making things official following a loved-up trip to Jamaica, it seems Zion Foster, 23, wasn’t the man for Jesy – and the age gap between them could have been to blame.

A source close to her told The Mirror: “Jesy is in a different head space from Zion these days. She is after all a few years older than Zion and has a different way of looking at things these days. They had a great trip abroad but since they got back, Jesy has realised it’s time to move on.”

Despite their split, Jesy last took to social media to gush over Zion on June 14 as she shared a string of snaps with her ex-boyfriend. Captioning her upload, she penned: "Down to ride to the very end," alongside a white heart emoji.
