Chocolate fans were left devastated this week after Nestle delivered the crushing news that it would be discontinuing the beloved Caramac bar, 64 years after it first hit shelves. Following the news, Sainsbury's and Asda were quick to run out of stock of the caramel-flavoured bars on their website, and while Iceland still had some in stock yesterday, they too have now changed their online listing to "unavailable".

The dwindling stock has left chocolate lovers across the country desperate to do whatever they can to get their hands on the delicious treat before it vanishes for good. Among those heartbroken confectionery fans are two Brits who are willing to spend a small fortune on hiring people to find the coveted Caramac products before it's too late.

Dan O, from Wandsworth, and Pippa P, from Sheffield, both took to Airtasker, a local service marketplace, asking people up and down the country to help them locate their favourite Caramac products. And speaking to The Mirror, they both said they were devastated about the discontinuation, as they hailed Caramacs as one of their favourite sweet treats.

Pippa, 23, is a particular fan of Munchies Gold, a collaboration between Munchies and Caramac that she's worried will also vanish from shelves now that the traditional Caramac is no longer being produced. She posted on Airtasker offering £100 for anyone who could find her "as many bags as possible" so she can stock up before it's too late.

And speaking to The Mirror about her chocolate obsession, she said: "Two of my favourite chocolates growing up were Munchies and Caramac so when I first saw that they had collaborated and made Munchie Gold it was a match made in heaven and it instantly became my go-to treat. So, when I saw the news this week that Nestle had decided to discontinue Caramac I was gutted as I would be losing two of my favourite treats.

"I had heard about Airtasker from one of my friends so thought I would put a task up so I could stock up on as many as possible before they're gone forever. Once my stock runs out, I guess I'll have to settle for the normal munchies and go on the hunt for a new caramel chocolate bar."

Dan, meanwhile, wants a whopping 10 boxes of Caramac bars. Each wholesale box contains 48 bars of the iconic sweet, so he's looking to amass a stockpile of 480 bars - and he'll pay £350 to anyone who can fulfil his request. He told The Mirror his whole family are Caramac lovers, and he wants to make sure he has enough bars in stock so that he doesn't have to find a new favourite chocolate any time soon.

"When I saw the news that they were discontinuing Caramac bars, my heart melted!" he explained, "They have always been a staple sweet in my family. I remember when we lost the Drifter bar, and I wasn't quick to the mark. So, I'm willing to spend as much money as I need to get as many as I can before they become impossible to find. I'll make sure I get enough to share around the family.

"I've tried some of the other caramel chocolates on the market, like Cadbury's Caramilk, but they just don't match up. I'm hoping if I stock up, I won't have to worry about finding a new favourite anytime soon and can [stave off] the pain!"

As of the time of writing, Dan and Pippa's adverts on Airtasker are still open, meaning neither of them has been successful in finding someone to fulfil their wishes. However, they both have several comments from people claiming they can get hold of the items for them - so it shouldn't be too long before they're happily tucking into their mountain of Caramacs.
