KSI reveals two biggest motivators behind grudge Jake Paul showdown

YouTube boxer KSI has named ego and pride as the two motivators for his potential fight with Jake Paul.

KSI has been linked to fight bitter rival Paul for years but the pair are yet to meet in the ring. The social media star admitted that Paul is his end goal in the sport whilst 'The Problem Child' is focused on becoming a world champion. KSI, who suffered his first boxing loss last month when he was beaten by Tommy Fury, refuted that money is the main reason he wants to fight Paul.

"It's a huge fight especially the ego is on the line, not even the money or fame. It's the ego and pride, who is going to be the YouTuber that falls down. That's why everyone is saying 'I need this'. Right now, I feel like I’ve retired. It’s weird. I haven’t trained since the fight [against Fury]," KSI said on Impaulsive.

"I’ve kind of just enjoyed my life. It’s weird because I'm like, 'I've got to train the next day. Wait, no I don't! I've got to watch what I eat. Wait, no I don't. It’s all these things that I would normally do, and I'm like I can just relax, play games. I've been playing Overwatch, playing the new Spider-Man 2 game. I've been seeing my mates, Sidemen mates and just relaxing. My girlfriend has loved it. She's like 'He's back, finally!' we can go out to restaurants and eat anything. We can go on holiday and vibe," he added.

KSI appealed his loss to Fury with the Professional Boxing Association, but unfortunately for him the only switch in result was the split decision win for Fury being changed to a unanimous decision after a scoring error. Fury has since welcomed a rematch with Paul after beating him in February as he thinks the American is trying to lure him into a second fight.

"He [Paul] messaged me the other day and said, 'Congratulations brother, you know, I could tell there’s something wrong with your hand.' All this sort of stuff, being extra nice. Trying to get that fight on. At the end of the day, it's one of them, I think the fight is inevitable. He knows that I'm his biggest draw and for me now sitting at the top I've done things that he hasn't," Fury told Daily Mail.

Paul surprised fans this week by announcing his next fight against unknown professional boxer Andre August, who has a respectable record of 10-1-1. The fight marks Paul's first bout away from pay-per-view since his professional debut against YouTuber AnEsonGib in January 2020.
