MAFS UK star admits they went on date two weeks before marrying partner on show

A Married At First Sight star has revealed they went out on a date just two weeks before their on-screen wedding for the E4 show.

In tonight's episode (Thursday 9 November), viewers watched as Arthur revealed a bombshell which left his wife Laura stunned as well as their fellow Married At First Sight couples.

Whilst answering questions from the honesty box and enjoying their final dinner party, George asked Arthur when his last date was before taking part in the social experiment. The tennis coach didn't think twice before responding casually: "A week before it".

Taking another swig from his wine glass, he didn't realise the impact of his answer as the rest of the couples were left horrified at his answer, including his wife Laura who was left reeling from her partner's confession..

Ella then broke the silence as she said: "Arthur, you've done it again darling. It's 10 weeks and you still can't learn." Arthur tried to laugh off his confession as he then backtracked and explained: "I had a date literally maybe two weeks before I walked in here. It wasn't great, it was nothing."

Speaking to camera, the tennis coach then added more information as he explained: "I went a date, nothing happened. I got married two weeks later. Big deal." Stunned wife Laura then kicked back at her partner's nonchalant attitude as she said: "That just makes me think that you weren't taking it seriously."

A defensive Arthur then replied: "Nothing happened, it was nothing," before Laura interjected: "Me and you were about to get married." He then tried to backtrack to Laura before she shouted back: "Don't tell me it doesn't matter, I will decided if it matters to me or not."

Speaking separately, she later told the cameras: "Dating someone a week prior to getting married to me, obviously he didn't take this seriously. I'm furious, I actually can't even look at him."

Viewers were left reeling at home too from the confession, with some left frustrated wirh Arthur's latest mistake. One wrote: "Ok I was backing Arthur against the 2 friends, but the guy is an idiot, spouting out a date a week before getting married. wtf SHUT UP MAN."

Another added: "For the first time I agree with Laura!Arthur knew he was going to marry a stranger weeks in advance but went on a date a week before and to add to that he is basically homeless… waste of time and space."

However not every viewer was left outraged, with some leaping to his defence. One shared on social media: "Can someone explain why Laura is mad at Arthur for going on a date 2 weeks before the show... when he was single, and didn't even know her? She's looking for excuses now."

Another added: "In all fairness Arthur shouldn't have gone on that date but if it wasn't that then Laura would have found something else to have a problem with." "I fully don’t see an issue w arthur going on a date before the wedding like??" asked a third. A fourth shared: "Arthur didn't say anything bad. So what if he had a date a week before? He was single and had every right to date. Laura is just a misery, she needs to lighten up."
