Deontay Wilder once put Anthony Joshua 's ill-fated opponent Jarrell Miller in hospital after concussing him in a brutal sparring session.

Former heavyweight champion Wilder is known for his devastating punching power, with all but one of his 43 professional wins coming by knockout. Miller was once a legitimate heavyweight contender and was supposed to fight Joshua in June 2019, but his career went downhill after multiple failed drug tests for banned substances.

Wilder had been taunted by Miller before his former coach Jay Deas brought him in to spar 'The Bronze Bomber' and he made him pay for his words. "That dude was taunting me for everything I did bro. I was like, ‘I’m trying to make a name for myself,’ and he was already hating. Then one day Jay Deas booked him to come and spar with me for a fight and I didn’t even know it," Wilder told Blue Blood Sports TV.

“I saw that motherf***er and man, my whole demeanour changed. I said, ‘Oh s***, he came in the lion’s den.’ I didn’t listen to s*** Jay was talking about, I was like, ‘Just put me in the ring, ain’t no need to give me no instructions, I don’t want no water, just ring that bell.’ I couldn’t wait, I was talking the whole motherf****ng spar and beating his ass.

“Sparring is just sparring, but that particular spar – that was a real fight because of the animosity we had against each other. I’ve seen some s*** happen in the gym bro. Especially with concussions, I’ve given so many concussions. You see their reactions, because they start talking crazy and repeating the same s***.

“That’s what Jarrell Miller was doing when he came down here. I concussed him, he went to the hospital and then he’s gonna blame it on, ‘Oh, I was running in the heat,’ and all that s***. He said his cousin came and got him and took him to the hospital. His cousin didn’t come and get him, we took him to the hospital, the motherf***er forgot all that shit.”

Wilder's last fight took place over a year ago as he knocked out Robert Helenius, who was beaten by Joshua in August, in under three minutes. The American has been pushing for a fight against 'AJ' in recent months but has now shifted his focus to either a cage fight or boxing match against former UFC champion Francis Ngannou.
