Robbie Williams imposed 'ban' on wife Ayda after his elaborate proposal
Robbie Williams' wife has said that she was "banned" from discussing wedding plans for months after his proposal.
Ayda Field revealed on the Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast: "We were together three years before he proposed and I think in his head that's how long it took him to even come round to that concept. There were three break-ups before that. But he got there."
Ayda continued: "We got engaged and I wasn't allowed to mention the word wedding. Two weeks later, my girlfriend gave me wedding magazines and I brought them into the house and he was like 'What's that? Who said anything about a wedding?' My heart sank. I started in my head to think 'Is this a ring, this is not ok, I'll give it back'."

On the watch, it said 'Set a date shipmate'. I thought you had to set the date. And then he was like 'No, you know what that means, let's set a date to get married'."
The couple had just six weeks to plan their big day, which they did in secret. Their guests thought they were attending a James Bond-themed party and only found out it was a wedding moments before the ceremony began.

Due to Robbie's superstar status, the couple couldn't have a long honeymoon as he had to work the next day. Despite his busy schedule, they celebrated their 12-year wedding anniversary in August. They've been together since 2006 and are proud parents to Theodora, nine, Charlton, seven, Coco, three, and two-year-old Beau.
On the podcast, Ayda shared some concerns she had when she first met Robbie. She admitted there were "so many red flags" and remembered thinking "Oh f**k, I think I'm going to fall in love with this boy". She said it was like "something out of a cartoon, red flags were dancing above his head."
She also revealed that she didn't know much about Robbie before they met, as they were introduced by mutual friends. But she quickly felt like she had "known him" her "whole life" and he "totally understood" her.
It comes after Robbie opened up about the early days of his relationship with Ayda in his new Netflix documentary. Both Robbie and wife Ayda have given an insight into the early days of their relationship, where they opened up about their first date. It was a mutual friend who suggested the pair go for a date and that was when the couple decided to meet.
However, things didn't go to plan for the pair, and initially they struggled to make a connection with one another, but luckily for them, everything worked out for the best and the pair are now happily married with a family.
Speaking in the documentary about their first meeting, he recalled: "She came over to my house after being at a party. I just saw off my dealer that I was sleeping with at the time," whilst Ayda remembered of their first meeting: "The house is completely f***ing dark. No candles. I’m like this is f***ing weird. So we’re sitting there, we have nothing in common."
Convinced it wouldn't work out, Robbie admitted: "I was like, 'Oh this is not working out. I better take her back to the party where she has come from,'" but the pair soon bonded in the car journey there. She said: "Unbeknownst to me, Rob was actually going to ditch me at this party! I guess we start, maybe because we surrendered to the fact we were not each other’s person, and this was a total mess. We were just completely loose with each other and we were saying funny s**t in the car. And I was like, 'Oh he’s funny!'"
