Bruce Willis' daughter shares update on his health amid dementia diagnosis

Bruce Willis ' daughter Tallulah Willis has shared an update on his dementia battle.

The youngest child of Bruce and his ex-wife Demi Moore appeared on The Drew Barrymore show on Wednesday as she discussed his frontotemporal dementia diagnosis and how life has changed for the family since his journey with the disease began. She told Drew: "He is the same, which I think in this regard I’ve learned is the best thing you can ask for."

Tallulah, 29, continued: "I see love when I’m with him, and it’s my dad and he loves me, which is really special." Bruce's family released a statement in February revealing his heartbreaking diagnosis. It read: "Bruce has always found joy in life - and has helped everyone he knows to do the same.

"It has meant the world to see that sense of care echoed back to him and to all of us. We have been so moved by the love you have all shared for our dear husband, father, and friend during this difficult time." They added: "Your continued compassion, understanding, and respect will enable us to help Bruce live as full a life as possible."

Tallulah also told Drew how her father "has a very aggressive cognitive disease, a form of dementia that’s very rare." She then admitted that the family had decided "to be so open" about his health battle as raising awareness was a key element for them. She said: "Well, I think it’s twofold. On one hand, it’s who we are as a family, but also, it’s really important for us to spread awareness."

Confessing that they initially "had no idea" about the complexities of the condition before Bruce got his diagnosis, Tallulah added: "If we can take something that we’re struggling with as a family to help other people, to turn it around to make something beautiful about it, that’s really special for us."

She continued: "And part of what’s been a really beautiful way for me to heal through this is becoming like an archeologist to my dad’s world, to his little trinkets and doo-dahs." Tallulah is the middle of Bruce's five daughters, with him sharing her older sisters Rumer, 35, and Scout, 32, with Demi. He is then dad to her two younger sisters Mabel, 11, and Evelyn, 9 with current wife Emma Heming Willis.
