Barbra Streisand has revealed the details of her “extraordinary” decades-long friendship with King Charles in her new tell-all memoir.

In the greatly anticipated memoir, ‘My Name is Barbra,’ which is 992 pages long with the audiobook version clocking in at 48 hours, the 81-year-old global star recalls fond memories shared with “utterly charming” Charles back when he was the Prince of Wales.

Streisand describes the pair’s friendship, which spans decades, starting when they first met in Los Angeles in 1974 as completely platonic, despite the now-King admitting to having a picture of her pinned up on his wall at Cambridge University as well as describing her as “devastatingly attractive” with “great sex appeal.”

The award-winning singer, actress and director wrote about the moment the pair met for the first time at her studio in 1974, after Charles had travelled to meet "the woman behind the voice." She said that despite the media frenzy surrounding the pair they somehow managed to establish a real connection.

“The prince was utterly charming when he came to the studio, but frankly, it’s hard to have a real conversation when you’re surrounded by fifty photographers snapping pictures,” Streisand wrote in her memoir.

“I was drinking tea and offered him a sip… and the future king of England actually drank from my cup, which was apparently unprecedented. When the British press reported on this, they turned it into the equivalent of an international incident.”

She described feeling awkward and shy and trying to speed up the conversation so she could get back to work.

Describing herself as so work orientated she apologiesed for if she wasn't as gracious as she should have been, explaining how both her and Charles are shy, but still connected.

The bombshell memoir also includes her encounters with US presidents as well as pretty much everyone else in Hollywood. Streisand works to set the record straight about rumours of her feuding with other stars such as Judy Garland and Celine Dion as well.

Later in the book, Streisand remembers staying the night at Highgrove House, the family residence now owned by Charles and Camilla, when her breakfast in bed was interrupted by the now-King’s dog.

“I was sitting up in bed and Renata [her assistant] had just come in when there was a knock at the door and a woman appeared with a lovely English breakfast on a tray,” she wrote.

“We were admiring the pretty dishes and the lace placemat when we suddenly noticed a little Jack Russell terrier peering up at me, with his front paws on the bed.”

She said Charles then knocked asking if his dog was in her room, claiming he'd looked all over the property for the pet which rarely leaves his side. “

According to royal expert and author Christopher Andersen, Charles obsessed over Streisand throughout his youth, spending his university days playing her album on repeat and even decorating his bedroom at Buckingham Palace with pictures of the star.

In his new book about the monarch, “The King: The Life of Charles III,” Andersen wrote, “A framed photograph of Streisand hung in his rooms at Cambridge and went up on the wall of his bedroom at Buckingham Palace after graduation.”

Andersen also claims Charles has described Streisand as “devastatingly attractive with a great deal of sex appeal.”
