Celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal, famed for wacky dishes like bacon and egg ice cream and snail porridge, is charging a whopping £425 per person to eat a Christmas dinner at his The Fat Duck restaurant - up from a whopping £395 last year.

Located in Bray, Berkshire, the three-star Michelin restaurant, which Blumenthal has run since 1995, serves up seasonal menus, called Anthologies, which it changes each quarter. But this posh Christmas-themed menu doesn't even include roast turkey, the trimmings - or a Christmas pudding.

It also doesn't include any drinks, and an optional 12.5% service charge will be added to your bill at the end of the experience. For £425, customers will be dining on nine courses of minimalist food, the first of which is called Christmas Tipples and is Nitro-Poached Aperitifs. This is followed by Pine Tonic of Botanicals - Green Herbs and Pine, Smoked Cumin, Jerusalem Artichoke.

After this, diners will enjoy Decorating the Tree, but rather than hanging baubles on trees this is a course consisting of Truffled Egg, Smoked Salmon and Buttered Toast - Chicken Liver Parfait and Plum. Next comes a Langoustine Cocktail, served with Marie Rose, Tomato, and Vanilla.

The fifth course is Roast Scallops and Almond - Chocolate, Kombu, and Pickled Lemon, followed by thee Twas The Night Before Christmas - a Short Rib of Beef, Lardo do Colonnata, Dried fruits, Gold Carrot, and Sherry. A very fancy-sounding King's venison is served next with Beetroot, Chestnuts, Brussels sprouts, Black Truffle and Umbles. It's all finished off with Cheese, Nuts and Port and Botrytis Cinerea, also known as grey mould.

Customers who are hoping to save money before going are out of luck, as you have to pay the eye-opening cost upfront. Those who are hoping to go for their actual Christmas meal will also be disappointed - as the last day it's available is December 23 - it's not available on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day or Boxing Day.
